Very nice Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
I wanted a headset with full range drivers and a wide response element for radio as well as for use on my PC. I’m running this through a channel strip processor and it’s really good. I swap back and forth mid conversation with my studio boom mics all the time and nobody notices.

The response of the mic has a prominent midrange and decent articulation so there is enough to work with for radio use but using it with the processor really makes it shine.

I got a set of fleece/velvet replacement pads for Beyer DT-880s and they happen to fit well. Extremely comfortable now for hours at a time.

Great TX Audio Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
Hi I have been using Microphone headsets for 25yrs, had settled on the HC-5 based unit, worked great, I then had issues with my OMNI VII and the TX audio, so James K8JHR recommended the AT BPHS-1 headset, I switch it with the iPLUS by W2IHY, and use the Audio Technica BPHS-1 with a OMNI VII, FTDX-3000, & MKV, with sometimes, surprisingly flattering TX audio reports, excellent dynamic cartridge, great recovered audio, an excellent all round well made piece of Ham radio kit, when you get hams using Neumann mics making comment, it means you are on the right track, you will not be disappointed.
Cheers

Top Quality Product Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I've used the BPHS1 for several years on my telephone rig and it's a great product at a fair price. I did replace the ear pads after they got funky. B&H PhotoVideo sells a lambskin set for about $35 and they are worth every penny. Supple, comfortable, and look like new a year or so down the road.

In my opinion, Audio Technica did a great job copying the Sony MDR-7506 (industry standard) headphones, and then added a great cardiod dynamic mic. Super combination, well executed, and rugged. Comfortable for long hours of wear.

Now, I am new to HAM, so I haven't used them for that yet, but I have looked at the specs and they will run on my TS-590s just fine, I only need to make an XLR interface for the 8-pin transceiver connector.

Excellent !!! Time Owned: more than 12 months.
This headset works great with my FTDX-3000. I used it for two year with the FT-950. It produces great audio and comes with a nice long cable for moving around the shack. The headset is comfortable and covers the entire ear helping to reduce room noise when trying to pull in the weak signals. The boom can be adjusted to work from either the left or right side. The 560 ohm input impedance is a good match for the 600 ohm balanced microphone input on the newer Yaesu rigs. I highly recommend this headset.

Fantastic all round Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
This is probably the best headset I have ever used, Personally it is better than some of the "radio use headsets" but they don't come with the fantastic after support like the others, but they produce outstanding transmitted audio, and the quality of headphones is superb. they are extremely comfortable
I have worn them for 2 days strait during a contest and was ready for more..

to sum all this up

*Comfortable
*Great Quality MIC and superb audio reports
*Fantastic Audio in the ear
*Great Manufacturing they seem very well made..

Amazing! Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Comfortable, reasonable, and sounds great! I use it with the Heil XLR cables on my FT-950 and TS-590. With a little tweaking of the internal EQ settings (in my case a slight reduction in BASS emphasis) this headset sounds great! I had a chance to do an A/B comparison over the air between this headset and my PR-40 recently. The station I was in QSO with reported that he could not tell the difference between the two! This was on 15m with a S9+ report... Very pleased!

Excellent Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Having owned several Heil headset models and a David Clark model, I was never quite satisfied with either the comfort or audio characteristics, so I purchased the BPHS1 based on a review in a broadcast engineering magazine. What a difference.

The BPHS1 headset is very comfortable to wear for extended periods. The receive audio response has a slight emphasis towards lower frequencies but otherwise a pretty flat response. The mic response is flat. The mic noise cancelling characteristics is excellent. I continue to receive excellent xmit audio reports.

The mic uses a balance XLR connection but is easily rewired to an unbalanced connector. Both the cable and ear pads are field replaceable. My only tertiary complaint is that the cable is about eight feet long and may need to be trimmed or you may find that it will be dragging on the floor.

Excellent Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I have used the AudioTechnica BPHS-1 headset for nearly two years with excellent results on multiple transceivers. I generally use it with NO EQ adjustment - flat in and flat out good sound. Over the head design with comfortable earphone receivers, with circumaural (around the ear) leatherette ear pads, and the earphone receivers provide moderate (medium) passive noise attenuation that reduces distraction from cooling fans, XYLs, and other ambient noise in the listening environment. Good, clear microphone articulation. This headset is intended for use by broadcast engineers and on-site announcers and, while light weight and comfortable, is built to last. User replaceable ear pads and cable, and possibly other parts, as well, but I have had no need to find out. Looks good. Sounds Good. Feels Good. My most used daily headset. Uses HEIL 3-pin adapter cable, or build you own adapter, either way, easy to match to any rig. Dynamic microphone cartridge, so no need to supply bias or phantom voltage, and pay attention when matching to ICOM radios which are usually looking for an electret condenser mic capsule requiring bias voltage.

That's MY take. // K8JHR //

Great audio from mic and headphones. Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I have been using this headset for a week now and the audio reports with my ft-1000d without any sound enhancement have been very good. The headset is comfortable to wear and earphone audio is very good. I'm surprised this headset hasn't made an appearance here sooner. I'm using the heil sound adaptor cable to convert 3 pin xlr to 8 pin yaesu and it works flawlessly. Highly recommended.
