Stable & Sensitive Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I picked one up in a trade and gave it a thorough "going over". Mine needed some minor "tweeking" to the front end & i.f. sections as well as the "S meter" adjustments. After about an hour of this minor work it's a good player! Remember, this baby is about 20 years old so the PLL technology was still in it's infancy then. The radio is quite sensitive and has great audio. For SWL on AM it is superior. Sure it lacks sync. AM but so what! I ran a Sony SW7600G at the bedside for 4 years and this beats the Sony. Tuning is easier and audio is cleaner. I will admit that the tuning/programming keyboard is akward and takes some getting used to but after a couple of hours you catch on. This rig was made by Uniden in Japan for Bearcat, I will try to see if there is service date available for this rig. All in all, I think at $200 used it's not a bad radio. Not to mention a fairly rare find.

Rich in features, poor in performance. Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Alert-Alert! Stay as far away as possible from this deceptive looking receiver. A sheep in wolves clothing. Insensitive by design.
