Description:
The DX Engineering DXE-7580FS-VA-2 is a slow taper 68 foot high vertical antenna system. The vertical antenna is specifically designed to operate on 75/80 meters. Included with this antenna system is a rugged heavy duty stainless steel pivot fixture for ease of assembly and adjustments. Engineered with 6063 corrosion-resistant aluminum tubing, stainless steel mounting brackets and stainless steel hardware, this antenna is very durable and attractive.

Impressed Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
My 75/80 has been up for about 30 days now. This is my first vertical antenna with a tilt base. I use the optional winch and have used it a couple of times..and it is so easy to raise and lower. It was 1.1:1 at 3500 when built as suggested, so I reduced the length of the top elements to resonate it for lowest SWR at 3.850. Now my SWR is no greater then 1.5:1 from 3.772-4.000. I ran 32 radials of various lengths up to 65Ft. on top of the soil using long staples. Occasionally my shoe will snag a few, so I need to add more to keep the wire/s more flat to the ground.
Comparing this vertical to the full wave loop for 80Mtrs. My full wave loop tends to be quieter with signals being stronger most of the time and their are a few occasions where signals off the vertical although noisier are stronger.

This is just a comment concerning my first impressions following erection of the vertical for the first time. Their is much whip action on the top 30 Ft. during erecting this vertical using the optional winch.Once vertical, the 70'8" antenna top 30 Ft. section tends to lean about 20 deg. pending on wind direction or if the Schedule 80 supporting pipe is not perfectly vertical when cemented into the ground. This antenna does not require guying unless winds exceed 90 MPH.

Can't Get Any Better Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I have had this vertical 2 years now. Absolutely no problems. Every part is quality and it's held up in some strong winds. This antenna provides the vertical portion of the antenna, it's up to you and your space in the yard how many radial to run. A vertical is only as good as the ground system. I run 64 on top of the ground radials which are 70 feet plus in length. I also run 600 feet of coax to it. I couldn't ask for better performance.
