Greaat for 75mtrs Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
I purchased this loading coil from Tom at zero 5 antennas cause I needed better performance on 75mtrs and wow did I get it! It replaces the section about 10' up from the base and is really well built, over 12' long and made of 3/8th" tubing. The 43' vertical worked ok before but now I ended up just tuning this antenna for 75m with a 1:1 balun and a small hairpin matching coil at the base to get 1:1. The antenna has about 1/4 mile of radials down and the 2:1 bandwidth is between 3.9Mhz down to 3.7Mhz with resonance at 3.790Mhz which is very good for loaded shorter antenna. This is not your 75M rag chew antenna but for DX it excels and compared to a center fed 130' dipole@75' it is an easy 2S units better on DX, also since it seems still not full size the noise floor seem very good for a vertical. On a medium to low angle night its makes a huge difference and even when its a high angle night it still is equal to the dipole. If we move QTH's I might order up another vertical plus coil and phase a pair, I have a strong feeling they would play great, very pleased with Tom antennas.
