great audio Time Owned: more than 12 months.
a little side by side test resulted in no audio difference between the sm-20 and sm-6.the only difference was the price tag.this testing was done with numerous hams who couldnt tell any change.go get an sm-6 for 95.00,it's a great solid microphone.

so small yet so good Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I've used this little guy for some time now, first on my IC-820H and now on my IC-910H, nothing but good audio reports, also shared with my 706mkiig (now used sp-8 on the 706mkiig).
this little guy has proven it's self many times and i do not need any other mic for my IC-910H

Great Tiny Mic! Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I have owned this mic for more than 3 years and worked pretty nice in my IC-251A (VHF base rig)... Last year i sold IC-251A without microphone SM-6,,, now i want to install it to my new FT-747 but it doesn´t work with it (no audio),,, i´m not sure if this microphone needs to be fed with DC currency to work as before

Thanks for your replies

Nice Addition Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I've had my SM 6 for about 10 years. At first, I was told there was no difference between the hand microphone and the desk microphone. It stayed in the box for a while. In my present set up, the desk mic has more than proven its worth. I consistantly get good audio reports. It is tough and looks nice with my 735. All it took was a good set of listening ears to get the setting on the mic to agree with the radio. Now, I would not get rid of it(considered it before) for anything. It makes a nice additon to any radio station.

Good desktop mic Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
Receiving excellent audio reports using my ICOM 751A. Good construction too! Watch the mic preamp level, I had mine too high and friends said my audio was lousy! Once you have the mic preamp and mic level on the transceiver set right it sounds great!

good mic -so far Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I bought this mic last week. Initially I was happy with the constructin - very rugged. the cord is felxible and long. The mic does seem to be very sensitive. I don't know how I sound on it but reports have been good. It is a basic mic -- great for my ic-718. If I wanted to spend a little more I would be looking for up down buttons -- that's about all it lacks......

Physically there is one feature I wish they would change. I don't care for the small PTT swith. It seems kind of wimpy. Not that I think it will break. just that it's so small for big fingers. This is really just a cosmetic thing. Cause it is quite solid.

If you need good quality with no frills... get a SM-6

Excellent Mic Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I am using the SM-6 connected at W2IHY 8 Band Equalizer and Kenwood TS-870S. Excellent microphone, with good frequency response and audio level. I tried it on FT-990 too and I got excellent results. I recommend and it is low cost mic. Any doubts feel free to contact me.

Good Product Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
This is a stripped down version in the Icom mic line. I have used it on a Ic 746 and it sounds good. The mic has only one connection for one radio and does not have up down buttons. The mic has a push to talk lock option and mic gain control knob on the bottom of the mic. This mic is constructed well and looks good. It sounds better than a stock mic but not as good as a Heil.
This is the cheapest base mic option for Icoms made by Icom and it functions as advertised. This mic is best run low on the mic gain on the mic and ajust your radio from there because this thing is real sensitive and will pick up your neighbor snoring.
