Description:
The Pro 7 offers a feature set that compliments the Heil Sound standard for headset design. Unlike copies of various aviation type headsets, the PRO 7 is not a copy.

Well Made Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I have only recently started using the Pro 7 headset and was immediately impressed with the quality of its construction.

It is a very comfortable headset to wear, even for those longer ragchews.

I have received good reports on the voice quality from local hams that know my voice.

Some have commented about the connector rubbing their collarbone, however, I have not had any issue with that myself.

A quality headset!

RF in audio Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
I loved this head set but I could not get the RF out of my audio if I ran over 100 Watts. Tried on different radios and qth's.
Hiel says the are tying to fix this and know it is a issue but they don't know what to do at this point.

HRO was great and took them back. Heil was great and worked with me and the other guys having this problem.

Yes I tried all the RF ferrite and toroid filters and Know help.
There other Mics worked OK.

Smashingly great set of cans. Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I tried on the Pro 7 while at the 2018 Dayton Hamvention and was amazed at how well the headphone pads virtually eliminated the noise of the surrounding crowd and how comfortable they felt. When I returned home from Dayton I ordered the IC (the electret condenser mic) model for use with my FlexRadio 6600M. A $5.00 stereo breakout cable was used to match the headphone cord with the Flex MIC input. With a little transmit and receive EQing in the radio I am now a happy camper. The only suggestion I can come up with is that the foam pop filter that comes installed on the microphone element is not nearly effective at stopping p-popping and breathy sounds picked up by the mic. I cured that by adding a standard size foam ball on top of the existing filter and that took care of things nicely. I ordered the HC-74 Contest/DX mic element this week and I'm looking forward to using it to be heard in the pileups. Like they always say, "if they can't hear you then you can't work them", or something like that. :-)
Bob Heil, thanks for another mighty fine product.

Fits and looks awesome, but not RF resistant Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Owned and owning many headsets due contesting, from smal cheapo pc headsets and the previous Pro Elite IC, I wanted a better fitting headset.
So I bought the Pro 7 IC.
It fits awesome, listenens great. but it picks up RF like crazy!.
I have never had any issues with RF problems on headsets ever.
But this is crazy.
For that amount of $$$ I would expected to be RF proof like its previous ones.
Yeah I can choke until it is working properly. but hey that should be not needed!.
Even the many cheapo (pc) headsets I have are working fine!.
I have returned it.
Too bad as I really enjoyed it comfort.

Conclusion: Not worth the money at all!

Almost a 5 Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I have agonized about this review since I received my Pro 7. It is great in almost all respects. It is comfortable and I have never received so many unsolicited great signal reports. The choice of coiled vs. straight cables is great. The PTT button is a great accessory though I don't use it.

So - with so many superlatives why don't I give it a five?
The left side balance is finicky and IMO completely useless , just waiting to break off. Also, I personally find no use for the phase switch. At least it is protected.
If I could I would give the Pro 7 a 4+ but, for me, It just doesn't quite rise to the level of a 5.

Good BUT Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Don't know how to rate this one. I really like the Pro 7- They are comfortable, audio is good (but they are a bit heavy). The killer is the audio plug rubs on my collar bone. Not a little rub either. My bone is really sore after 15 minutes. The plug extends about an inch and a half out the bottom of the ear cup and it's just the right length to constantly rub. Come on Bob, you had to know this before you released them. A shorter (custom) plug would have cost you maybe $2 more on a $275 plus headset. Shame on you!

Pro7 Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I've been using a Proset Plus for about eleven years and it has seen better days. Jiggle this, move that and the dx switch broke. I loved that headset. Made many contacts.
I knew technology has changed, and everything improves by design, but the new Pro7 headsets I purchased are GREAT! The mic and ear speakers are remarkable not to mention how comfortable they are to wear. Good job Bob!

Phones great/cable no Time Owned: more than 12 months.
The head phones are great and very comfortable. But the "plastic block" is terrible, the coiled cord is very stiff, every time I move it drags the block across my operating position. It catches my keyboard, mouse, or the edge of the desk. I have to use tape and fix it to the desk so it doesn't move. I like Heil products, I have a goldline signed by Bob a long time ago at a hamfest in Rochester, NY
still going strong.

Great Product: Both Transmitting and Receiving Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Although I have been a ham for several years, I have relied on a hand held microphone and a small speaker for all of my operations. I have always wanted a headset and have been looking at the Pro7 for years, but thought I could not afford one. However, I became a fan of the Pro7 Headset while I was in Puerto Rico with the ARRL group that deployed in support of the American Red Cross after hurricane Maria. It was great having the Pro7 headsets that Bob Heil provided for our use. Before that, it was mayhem in the Radio Room. As Net Controllers (2 per shift) we were monitoring 4 different frequencies on 4 different radios in 2 different languages. It was often very difficult to hear the QSOs as a result of a combination of poor propagation and the other traffic that was occurring simultaneously, then the Pro7 headsets arrived. What a blessing. We were able to transmit and receive weak QSOs that were up to then impossible. I was immediately sold on the Pro7 headset, they are great. I ordered one for my TenTec Eagle as soon as I returned home in October 2017 and immediately saw a dramatic improvement in my RST reports.
