good one Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
I like the radio, it's working good with packet. Little bit tricky to connect the radio to the TNC but after trying, and not looking too much in the manual (why don't they just call the connections "input, output, ptt, ground"), you'll be able to get it working. The small fan is actually making quite a noise, and it switches on after pushing the ptt and remains on for some time.. It somehow is disturbing me quite a lot. Even when using 5 watts, the fan is starting to blow for a long time after transmitting. And when using with packet radio while connected to the DX-Cluster it's always blowing.. It's making more noise than my computer. But anyways that's the only minor. There could be somekind of sensor so that the fan is only working when really needed. But otherwise a nice and small radio, which is easy to operate. I would suggest this radio!

Excellent Radio Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
My first radio purchase, and quite a bit for the money. The display is very easy to read and reports from others give the unit very good transmit audio. The reciever is excellent and has no intermod problems that I am aware of. Only two (minor) complaints: the scan speed could be faster and the speaker is a bit weak. Add an external speaker and you're set. I will probably buy a second G707A for use as a base rig. Highly recommended.

Great, but low audio Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
Great radio as others have said, there are some other reviews under G707 etc. That mention the one problem, and I don't see it here. It has very weak XMIT audio and it's not the mike 100%. Seems it is turned down inside the rig. The mike hole is to small and opening it and the silicone pad up do help a little. It depends on your talking style really how much this will bother you. I don't like yelling into a mike 3 fingers from my mouth and forgetting then being asked to repeat what I said! I speak fairly strong and have never had this problem before. I heard another and it's the weakest sounding radio on the repeater besides mine. Other than that I love it. All kenwood said in their e-mail about it was "not aware of a audio problem....it's not a issue with us" oh, well. 73's

Now that I have more time with the radio; the Xmit audio is low as mentioned by others. Even when talking loud more than 4 fingers from the mike you will sound weak. I have had more than a few people mention it. Other than that I still love it! I e-mailed Kenwood, got a curt "it's not a issue with us, weare not aware of the problem, you will like it"

Just got the current model, works great the audio is fine, no mike problems of any type. Great out of band RX. Receives Airband very well. I have nothing negative to say about it,yet? I have owned two yasues and a Alinco Dual bands and this is the best yet by far!

It does everything well Time Owned: more than 12 months.
After having a TMG 707 is the mobile for over a year, I bought a second one for the home "base station." Both radios have performed flawlessly. I intentionally wanted a dual-bander that "only works one band at a time" because there is no chance of accidentally answering someone on the "wrong" band (IMHO, dual band, simultaneous receive is NOT a plus). Intermod rejection, even when driving through a downtown "RF island," or when my 707 at home is connected to my big, gainful Comet vertical, is excellent.
I can only think of two shortcomings -- and then only by trying real hard: one is that, because the radio is capable of using different CTCSS tones for both transmit and receive, it is *possible* to accidentally set PL Decode for a frequency different than the transmitted PL. Secondly, and this is a matter of taste, I just wish the 707 would scan through the memory channels a little faster: it frequently locks-up on a station only after he has gotten mostly through announcing himself, so I only catch "... mobile monitoring <squelchtail>".

Nice for the price Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
I like it. No cross band repeat, and sometimes the ads are misleading with that. When a radio will ACCESS cross-band repeaters, I see the words, "cross band repeater capable" and similar phrases, which may lead you to believe it will work as one. Other than that, it has a great price tag and loads of features. It's pretty small, too. it will fit in the center console of my Buick, microphone and all!! It makes for a clean installation. The display is nice. It even has an auto-dim feature for night driving.

For the price, you can't go wrong. The TM-G707A is priced about the same as some 5 watt HT's (just over $300). It has a lot of useful features, like the removable faaceplate, alpha tags for your channels (7 characters, I think), and full power in a small package.

I was able to easily fit the whole radio, mounting bracket and all, into the center console compartment of my 1987 Riviera. When the compartment's cover is closed, you can't even see the radio. That makes the installation look very clean, which is very difficult in most cars.

There isn't much I can say negative about this radio; however, it does lack cross band repeat and the power level cannot be saved in each channel. It is set by band and must be changed as needed, which isn't a big deal to me. I use 5 watts until I need more to get into a distant repeater.

The TM-G707A is great for the price-I only paid $215 for it (used) on e-bay.

Very Pleased!!! Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
As others have mentioned, the super large Alpha feature on this radio is why I bought it; sure makes life easy when crusin' down the highway and not having to reference a paper reference sheet!! Very very easy to program, to...much better and easier than most. I like this radio so much, am now lookin to buy another!! A very good value, too.

Very Good Rig!!!! Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Very good, except of the speaker, if you set a 1/4 of the volume sounds very bad, the AM aircraft band is OK!!!!, and it has a lot of features to configure it as you like.

Outstanding Radio Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
I have really enjoyed this radio. It is a good rig with plenty of features. I especially like the large display. I travel at night quite a bit and the display is very easy to see. Good value for the money.

Top performance, easy-to-operate Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Gone are the days of carrying the instruction manual in the car just in case you want to switch your new dual-band radio to an unknown channel (remember the TM-733A?).

Kenwood got it right this time with their TM-G707A. This rig is intuitive to program and operate. Plus the selectivity and sensitivity are good.

Great instruction manual included.

Kenwood deserves an A+ for this rig.

Packs a punch Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Very satisfied! I am particularlly impressed with the anti-scratch anti-glare coating on the display of the rig, very bright and clear to read. Alpha tags are good, but more special characters could have been added to the selection that you have. No intermod detected, and the memories should be split into banks if there are going to be so many of them.. scans a little slow, but its not a scanner! Its a rig, ya know.. Very nice job on the PL/CTCSS scanning feature, stops when the transmissions stop unlike some other rigs which keep on scanning no matter what. Overall a great rig, except for the microphone, which can easily be fixed with a small mod featured in QST.
