Easy on old eyes ! Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
BIG bold display is easy on old eyes... the alpha tag feature, either from keypad or computer program is especially nice. Compares well to the Icom 207, only better display and FARRRRRR more features! Previous reviews mention loud cooling fan, but mine is quiet even in the home hamshack. Programmable microphone is very easy to use and very useful. Highly recommended!

Best display out there Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
The big, bright and bold lettered display is the best on any rig I've ever used. The s-meter is fantastic, and covers the entire bottom of the display. The little removable head also is nice when parked and going shopping. Pop it off and place in your pocket. The rig itself is well-built and solid, The receiver is sensitive, especially on 440. No intermod ever noted. Audio is sort of rolled off it seems, could be crisper and a little louder. Transmit audio reports were kind of the same -- some people commented it was lower than other rigs they've heard. The mic was the issue. Seemed to take a lot of pressure to key it -- and keep it keyed. Heard reports elsewhere this was a problem with the rig. Minus the mic, it is definately the best dual band/single receive rig out there. One band at a time is no problem, in fact it is easier to listen to than multiple VFO's, but this is a matter of opinion. Runs nice and cool with the fan, which is very quiet.

Best Dual Bander for the money Time Owned: unknown months.
LARGE display with alpha numeric and multiple brightness settings. There is nothing worse than small displays that can't be read from the driver's seat (or from 2 feet away!). I've had it over a year with no breakdowns (great for a Kenwood!) and use it as a base with a Comet antenna mounted high on a roof mast. A wonderful rig except:> COMPLAINT: I have received consistent signal reports of "much lower" transmit audio than my Icom. Even speaking louder gives the same low audio..almost as if there is a limiter/compressor in the unit keeping transmit audio too low. I hate dumb mistakes manufacturers make. Thus a one star loss here.

Value of the year! Time Owned: unknown months.
I have owned this radio for about a year now, and it is the best value out there I believe. It does just about everything you would need for the price it commands, and it works very well in out of band receiving. I recommend it too all. My only complaint being that it scans too slow!
