Extremely Heavy-Duty Time Owned: more than 12 months.
This is the most popular ground plane for commercial use you will ever see. The Decibel DB-201 is a standard in the communications industry. They are sold in several different models, such as 30-40 MHz, 40 to 50 MHz, 144-174 MHz, and so on. A cutting chart is supplied. The antenna is a shorted ground plane which gives it wider bandwidth and most importantly, a DC ground which can take multiple lightning blasts. The antenna is fairly heavy, and consists of stainless steel clamps for the radials, and solid aluminum radials. It is a very popular antenna for 6 meters, as the old low-band systems (like the highway patrol) are being turned down, the 42 MHz antennas can be obtained and trimmed for 52 MHz with ease. If you can get your hands on this antenna, do it. Although it is low gain (like a regular 1/4 wave) the survivability of this antenna is tremendous and will probably out-last the tower and coax you use with it. Hands down, the most sturdy antenna for repeater/base use I have ever seen.
