Fantastic Premium Radio Time Owned: more than 12 months.
The Eddystone 6200 is among the lesser known premium receivers. Manufactured between 1994 and 2002, it came in a number of variants -- the one I obtained has only two filters (2.4 and 6.0) installed, and no ISB capability. Nonetheless, it's an impressive receiver by this venerable former manufacturer in the UK and it's right up there with the most sensitive receivers in my shack, including WJ's and JRCs. With a pretty orange/yellow frequency window with a dot matrix LCD, the receiver provides multi-mode reception capabilities, and was according to the Radiomuseum the last receiver made by Eddystone in its Birmingham factory. It's a superhet, double/triple conversion, with dual voltage. It has a small loudspeaker, similar to those in the great 1650 line of receivers from Eddystone. Mine came in a heavy metal cabinet with rubber feet. Dimensions are 483 x 88 x 440 mm / 19 x 3.5 x 17.3 inches. Tuning is accomplished by the typical heavy duty Eddystone black tuning knob -- keypad is membrane style, not to everyone's liking, but perfectly acceptable in my book. 0-9 you have to enter a leading zero, but again similar to 1650's, all you have to do is put a few of the numbers in then spin the knob to complete frequency selection. Readout/rate is adjustable down to 10 Hz. There are 99 memories, scanning options, and BITE. There is also CW slewing of 2.4 plus/minus. This is one heck of a stable receiver, with the manual mentioning
