Review Summary For : Hy Power Antenna OCF 40QM Micro OCF wire antenna
Reviews: 1MSRP: 101.95
Description:
The, “Micro Series” Off Center Fed antenna is made using
#18 stranded insulated wire and a BNC for connection your
coaxial cable. The GU4-HF-250-M balun, used on this
antenna, uses the same cores that are used in the
standard QRP OCF baluns. The balun enclosure is much
smaller, 3" x 2" x 1". The end insulators are made from
3/8"round fiberglass. This antenna is not meant to be
used for a permanent installation. It is designed for
hams on the go. Back packers love this antenna due to its
compact size and weight. They can handle up to 250 watts.

Excellent performer Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I am, primarily a QRP operator, and take many camping and backpacking trips. One question has always been. what antenna to use while at a remote site? I have used small table top verticals and a large twin lead fed doublet with a tuner. The vertical was a subpar performer and the doublet while a good performer was ungainly. I just acquired the Hy Power OCF40QM OCF Dipole. It is resonate on 40, 20, 10, and 6 Meters. It also has a low SWR on 2 meters. It is light weight and packs easily in the same bag that contains my KX3. Super easy to deploy with lengths of light weight antenna rope. I recently had it set up in a Pennsylvania State Park about 15 feet off the ground and was able to work stations across the U.S. As mentioned in the description, it is not meant for permanent installations but is great for an overnight or weekend camping trip. I am making this, with a 25’ length of RG-174, my #1 vacation antenna. If you like to take your 100 watt rig on vacation, no problem! This antenna will handle 250 watts.
