Review Summary For : ZEROFIVE 57 Foot 20-80 Meter Vertical
Reviews: 1MSRP: 899.00
Description:
The Zerofive 57 foot 20-80 meter super high performance freestanding low band vertical is for the Ham who demands nothing but the best in performance from a vertical. Huge 4 inch base tube for uncompromising strength. A massive 4 inch diameter oil impregnated cast Nylon base insulator for the ultimate in strength and power handling. BIG 3 inch bottom section tapers to 5/8 of inch at the top for flexibility and strength. This Antenna is made for high power 20-80 meter multiband operation with full bandwidth on all bands, and includes our 5 kw 4 to 1 UNUN matching transformer with mounting plate and leads. Why settle for 2 bands with limited bandwidth, when you can have 6 bands with UNLIMITED bandwidth AND NO TRAP LOSS. On Recent side by side tests this vertical outperforms a monoband 40 meter 1/4 wave, and is comparable to a full 1/4 wave on 80 meters. A minimum of 16 radials are suggested. All mounting hardware is included with this vertical. This vertical comes standard with base that mounts to a concrete pad. Requires a 12 inch diameter 48 inch deep concrete base.
Better performance on 40 than a 1/4 wave. Comparable performance on 80 to a 1/4 wave. Overall height -- 57 Feet
Fold over base included
Bands -- 20/30/40/60/75/80
Power rating--3KW SSB
NO TRAP OR COIL LOSS
WIND RATING--95 MPH no ice
SWR-1.5 And under with customer supplied tuner at the operating position.
Recommended coax length--50 to 100 feet

Outstanding Engineering and Construction and Super Performance Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Received the antenna 8 days after ordering. The order was sent in two packages; the base and the elements. Packing was very thorough and the antenna arrived with no damage. This vertical is more ruggedly built than any of the comparable verticals available, with the exception of the Hy-Gain AV-18HT but good luck with MFJ/Hy-Gain if you order one there. First order of business was getting the hole dug for the base. Georgia clay is unforgiving and I hit granite at 32 inches. Accordingly, I made the concrete base 34 inches deep by 30x30 inches. Local concrete companies would not deliver less than a cubic yard, so I used 15 50 pound bags of concrete. Once the base concrete had cured for two days, I leveled the ZEROFIVE base, assembled the elements, and raised the vertical. Then, attached the coax to the UNUN, attached the positive UNUN connection to the active vertical elements, and attached the negative UNUN terminal to a ground rod. Without radials, the SWR on 3500-3600 MHz was 3.1:1; on 7000-7150 MHz was 2.7:1; and on 14000-14150 MHz was 1.2:1. Thirty Meters was approximately 7:1 and tunable with the rigs tuner. I plan on putting in a copper tubing ring around the base, attach that to the antenna base, and put 32 radials of varying length on the ring.

Comparing the vertical without radials to a 268 foot OCF up 40 feet, the vertical is 2-5 "S" units better in almost all cases. Some stations within a 500 mile radius are an "S" unit better on the OCF. In comparison to the OCF, the vertical allowed me to work 3D2AG this morning on 40 Meters in a pretty big pileup. I could barely hear the 3D2 on the OCF and had never been able to work him in previous attempts. He came back to me on my third call as I tracked where he was listening in the pileup. THIS ANTENNA WORKS!
