This is a review of S/N 1, designed for coverage of the DX window and down. With 4 switched inductor settings the antenna continuously covers 3.87Mhz to 3.50 Mhz <2:1 swr and about 1.15:1 at each segment resonance. The antenna is at 156' above ground and is turned with a K7NV prop pitch motor on a 3" CM mast.

Construction is absolutely first rate. Welded high Q loading coils, very heavy sleeved elements and super strong boom and element clamps on a 3" trussed boom. JK specifies a 100mph survival and so far I have observed it in 50 to 60 mph winds, it looks good. Elements are not trussed and sag only about 6'. It weighs over 300# and was installed with a crane with double jib extensions. Paul and team from Custom Metal Works in OR, put up the Rohn 65 tower and all of the beams.

LP performance to Europe from Seattle is about what I expected, 2+ S units better than my 86' rotatable dipole at 100'.

Ken at JK has been very responsive to my questions. His modeling was quite accurate as only 3" needed to be cut from the elements to zero in the resonance. (0.3% error!)

A 3 element is also possible but my yard isn't big enough to build it.

I've built some 100+ mph beams and think this one will last without the common 80m beam headaches.

The picture in Reviews Summary shows the JK802 at 156' over a full size 40m 3L on a 48' boom at 140' over a 5L 20m also on a 48' boom.
