Best trunking scanner there is! Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
Looking for a full featured Trunk Tracker, then look no further than the 780. It has it all, and does it all. It also does it very well. For around $350, you get a lot of radio for the money. There is much not to like about it.

An outstanding scanner by all accounts Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
This is my first trunk tracking scanner, and is by all accounts the most useful scanner I have ever owned.

I have been truly impressed by its receive sensitivity - it's like having an extra receiver for 2m and 70cm. I use a Grove Enterprises all band antenna up about 25 feet in the house and a glass mount all band antenna in the vehicle.

Perhaps one of the handiest features is the per channel attenuation selection. Here in the urban jungle, it's nice to be able to select this feature on strong signals and thus knock out intermod products.

If you're looking for a highly flexible scanner with tremendous alpha tagging capabilities, buy it. The trunk tracking is *almost* just a bonus.

Outstanding Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
A Must have for any VHF/UHF/800Mhz Monitoring Buff! This radio follows pretty much any type of Analog Trunking System. Alpha-Tagging is a BIG plus as you can alpha-tag any frequency/talkgroup ID you store into memory. This radio also has SAME/FIPS Capability so all you Weather Buffs can keep up with severe weather situations in your area. I have owned many scanners and this beautiful radio is near the top of the list in terms of features & performance. :-)

Excellent. Top of the line. Great! Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Excellent, well designed scanner. All features work as adveretised, including the FIPS codes for the SAME weather alerting. The 780 has excellent sensitivity, and selectivity. There is very little, if any, intermod. My primary use is in military UHF, and have over 300 freqs in the 225-400 area of the spectrum. This has been long awaited by many people, and well worth the wait. The download feature, utilizing the RS-232 port works excellent. Manual is easy to follow, although the trunking requires a good understanding.
