Good enough ... but ... Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Hmmm... this one is a mixed bag.

POSITIVE ATTRIBUTES - Surely nobody will complain about its very low price tag! It costs $15 to $30 alone (including spider-style shock mount and foam breath screen) and $25 to $45 including a boom arm mount. It sounds OK for general recording use ... BUT, one must use it carefully and determine its best working distance to maximize audio quality and minimize the capture of ambient noise. And, yet, even then it provides only average, mediocre results - more raspy and harsh than other, higher quality, microphones better suited to the task. BUT ...

NEGATIVE ATTRIBUTES - Condenser capsules capture A LOT more ambient noise in the shack, so one should close-talk this model to minimize capturing unwanted straysound - such as cooling fans, marauding grandchildren, barking dogs, and the XYL announcing dinner or barking orders from a lengthy honey-do list. Parenthetically, this is why Bob Heil recommends and sells dynamic type microphones for ham radio. Dynamic are MUCH better at rejecting ambient sound and are easier to close-talk to reject more ambient and off-axis sound. Commensurate with its low price point, this microphone produces substantially more self-noise than higher quality microphones of the same type. In other words, it has a substantially lower signal-to-noise (S/N) ratio, resulting in undesirable hissss and distortion in the output. While it is sufficiently durable with careful handling and for light duty tasks - I do not consider it particularly robust.

Conclusion - This microphone can sound OK with a ham transceiver PROVIDED it is used with care and one speaks close to its pickup "sweet spot" - the user carefully adjusting it and his operating position to minimize self-noise and minimize the capture of ambient sound in the shack. Not a bad $25 microphone - BUT THERE ARE MANY MUCH BETTER ALTERNATIVES FOR THE SAME OR LESS MONEY, particularly many hand-held performance style dynamic microphones such as the Musicians' Gear M1000, Samson R21s, Superlux ECO-88, Behringer XM8500, Shure PG-48, Sennheiser XS-1, and a great many other low cost DYNAMIC microphones which are much better suited to the task than most condenser microphones.

While it CAN sound (just) OK ... I do not consider this the best low cost tool for the job. Of course this is just MY take ... your mileage may differ ... and surely the price is nothing to complain about! Good luck. K8JHR

High Quality Microphone Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I purchased this microphone off of Ebay for around 15 bucks and I have to say that the quality of this mic is excellent. I'm using it with a Yaesu FTDX-1200 and it drives the radio nicely and has superb audio. Have tried several headset mics along with the MD-100 mic and could not achieve the audio that this mic provides. Great mic for the price, definitely plan to buy another for a spare!!!

Absolutely fantastic! Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
If you search Amazon (or eBay) for this family of mics you will see there are LOTS from different vendors.
I bought several 'inexpensive' condenser mics to use with my older Icom HF radios and also my new 7300.
If you make a cable (or just buy one online) that will mate the XLR mic connector to the 8 pin Icom connector, this mike is fantastic. Very hot, but also crisp sounding.
The price is right and the construction leaves nothing to be desired.

GREAT for the money Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I replace a $250 mic with this mic and the sound quality is better and the audio complements have been MANY. Can't beet the price for a mic of this quality!
