Great Buy! Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I read reviews for power supplies here on eHam.net and decided to buy this unit for my Kenwood TS-2000. I am glad I did...it is a good power supply, light, with no noise from the fan, and no noise on any of the bands at all. I would recommend buying the unit with the meters so you an idea about what is going on. All in all, I am very satisfied.

On 24/7 Since 1999 Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Now is a good time to write my review for this equipment. This unit has been on 24/7 since 1999 without any problems. Its a quiet unit without any RF hash or loud humming from loose transformer plates. Its small, light and with its black face with white lettering and great looking meters fits well in the shack. And at just 5 Lbs (2.27 kilograms), its easy to move around. Just blow the dust out of it once a year and enjoy.

So Far So Good Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
I've been very satisfied w/ mine. No problems after 7 months. Fairly quiet fan. WA6ABZ must have got a lemon.

Failed in 2 days Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I installed the SS-30 for a commercial 100 watt transmitter rated to draw 25 amps on transmit. The unit failed after 2 days of operation. We replaced it with an ICT since Astron took 3 weeks to repair and return it.

Nice Product Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I have had the SS-30M for 2 years now and it works very well , the fan will come on for short periods of time but I don't find it too loud at all.The only reason I give it a 4 is that the amp. meter has never worked properly, but never sent it back just for that problem, really isn't needed anyway.I wouldn't hesitate to buy another astron product.

4 YRS and running! Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I have had this supply four years now, I carry it with me when I travel and it has been dropped, beat, scratched and abused and its like that damn energizer bunny, it keeps going and going and going. Powered several radios I have had in the past. Cheap and light weight.

I since bought the Yaesu 897D with the optional power supply so this is my back up unit. Well unless I bring the 857D in the shack.

Works great Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
My SS-30 power supply has been rock solid. I have not noticed any problems with RF noise. For reasons listed in previous posts, I do wish they used different power connectors on the back of the supply.

Relatively "RF quiet" too Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Have several of these, 18 amp to 30 amp units and they all work great, especially for portable operation. Except for the case and fan size, the SS-30 appears to be identical to the SS-25, so for SSB duty cycles, the smaller size supply should be fine.

Mostly Good Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
Runs reliably and quietly. I've never had the fan come on, but then again I've only used it with SSB on my IC-735. As other have mentioned, the DC-out connectors on the back are too small, and tough to work with. I'd recomend investing in a DC power panel, and hook it up to the radio, and connect everything else from that. Looks like it would be easy to add a second set of power connectors, though.

An Excellent Solution Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I owned a SS-30M for several years and then picked up a SS-30. Both performed flawlessly and did what they were designed to do. I decided I wanted a "macho" power supply so sold them and got a RS-50A. I solved a problem that did not exist. I'm planning on retiring the RS-50A and getting another SS-30. I don't need the meters, I don't think I ever looked at the SS-30Ms meters more than a dozen times in three + years. I'll stick meters on there, when something breaks!
