Description:
These special single banders were designed specifically for the extremely popular Yaesu FT-817 and Elecraft KX3 Multimode HF/VHF/UHF Portable Transceivers. These single band, base loaded telescopic whips are fitted with a BNC connector and handle 25 Watts. Each whip telescopes from around 26 cm to approximately 1.4m. The short length when collapsed, makes them highly portable.

Great compromise antenna Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Using it with my FT-818 for portable ops. With a counterpoise, achieved minimal SWR quickly and made solid regional contacts with 6 watts. Still using an inverted vee for 20m, but this handy antenna lets me get on 40 with no fuss. A now-indispensable part of my SOTA kit.

Good but... Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I purchases one of these for a QRP transceiver years ago and recently, a second one to use for a Youkits TJ2B. With a counterpoise, it was right on frequency. It is fussy with counterpoise length. On an MFJ-226 and no counterpoise, it will show resonance above 8 MHz. With a counterpoise of some type, it is slightly below the 40 meter band, usually in it. I use a copper ring to fine tune the whip, so I prefer the whip to be low in frequency. This is expected. Only problem, it shows an impedance of around 200 ohms in any situation. Both on mine are consistent with these results (good quality control I guess). Needs some impedance matching.
