Great compact antenna Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
I believe the new XR3 and XR3-C are the revised and re-engineered versions of their C3 antenna. Six elements (2 on 10, 2 on 15, 2 on 20) are on a compact 11 foot boom. I have one of each of these at various fixed positions on a 90 ft tower. The XR3-C is the compact version which shortens the 20 meter elements by using a capacitive loading technique which does not affect any performance that I can tell. They both play very well. I did lengthen the 20 meter elements on the XR3 to get the lowest published SWR into the cw portion of that band. SWR is as good, if not better, than F12 publishes. These are very sturdy in design and construction and I can see why they would be good not only for a dxpedetion, but also for permanent tower use.
