The HG – Base Scanner Antenna is 2 ft 4 inches long including mast attachment & 3/4" diameter and comes ready to be installed in a mast or tower for better reception and coverage. Antenna covers 26 to 1200 MHz but has separate elements inside, one element focusing and enhancing the 800MHz Trunking (Analog Or Digital) band. It comes with 20 FT of RG-6 Coax Cable & BNC Compression Connector to insure the best reception possible. Antenna is made for outdoor use as a base scanner antenna. The Antenna is used on some scanners providing audio to the very popular scanning website (Radioreference.com) with excellent reviews and over 200 sold!!

At first, I actually thought this antenna was a poor performer. I was wrong.

I listen to p25 simulcast trunking systems that are notorious for simulcast distortion. A high gain antenna will receive signals from many sites simultaneously, which will wreak havoc when monitoring a system.

I had to actually mount the antenna horizontally to reduce gain for it to make my rtl-sdr setup play nice.

I own another Ebay antenna that works great vertical. It's gain is obviously lower and requires a good location to actually see the signal okay.

The HG antenna "sees" everything. The manufacturer says he designed a separate section especially for the 800 band. I believe this.

I'd call this a very high gain antenna. Perfect for any scanner application.

The construction is durable and ought to do well under outdoor weather conditions, if you choose.

Highly recommended. Just make sure you position it to either maximize its gain.. or reduce it. First time I ever had to make an antenna perform worse.. to make it work right!
