Great beam Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
After working the beam for a long time now you forget the small problems we had with the set-up...(the clamps for the elements)
This beam is a great performer, that is why I give it a BIG 5 now!!
Check how we put the antenne in the tower http://www.pd9jo.nl/_sgg/m2_1.htm
Don't think to long, this antenna will make you happy ;-)

After working with the MA5B from Cushcraft, I switch over to the Hy-gain TH3 MK4. This antenna is a graet performer, Front to back is super and also the swr is great!! The only thing that's a shame are the clamps for the elements, if you put them just a little to tight than it breaks...
This is a shame because the rest of the beam is perfect, the clamps to hold the elements on the boom are super strong, this is also for the elements and the boom hisself. Well I already did make great contacts and I didn't have to tune much after building..

solid performer and more Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I used one for several decades . . . I have 363 ARRL DXCC countries worked and confirmed. I never missed one. Most of my operating was on CW and some on RTTY. It is well designed. I am thinking of getting another one.

Very nice antenna! Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Hi all,

Have this antenna up for a week now.

Assembling the antenna was very simple.
I noticed that the construction is very decent.

Assembled the elements following the paper in the MID section.

Put the antenna in the mast, and no need to fine tune! excellent!

Performance is very good, nice F/B ratio!

I am very impressed!

Excellent antenna Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Excellent construction, excellent operation, good F/B - 'nuff said. Actually mine is a TH3Mk3, but who's counting?

Very well built, workhorse! Time Owned: more than 12 months.
My TH3MK3 was first used installed on 7/30/78. We used it for 8 years at 40', with no problems. Taken down in 1986 for 20 year nap. I rebuilt in July, 2006, with new plasics kit and stainless hardware. The Hygain factory was very fast, shipping me all the parts I needed. Very tough construction! Reinstalled 7/29/06, 28 years later, on a humble 30' tower. Even with the sunspot cycle at near bottom,, I continue to make many DX contacts. It is a REAL Workhorse, great recieve, very directional. Barefoot, if I can hear them, I can work them.

Excellent Antenna! Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Having had a good number of directional antennas from several manufacturers I was presently surprised by the excellent construction of this antenna. Other manufacturers should take a look at the excellent construction of this antenna.
Obtained excellent swr by setting it to the middle of the band and have excellent results on both cw and ssb.
My other antennas were larger and I am happy with the reasonable size and excellent performance of this antenna.

the best!! Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I'm not even sure...mine may be an original TH3. Got it at a hamfest. It was a scrap pile! Having owned a TJ3jr, I knew the antenna and looked it over. All the traps and elements were there, so I laid out my ten bucks and threw it in the back of the car! A call to HyGain for all new hardware and it has been working great now for about 3 years. The TH3jr it replaced was up for 25 years...but I burnt out the traps with my amp one too many times. This antenna is truly the anticushcraft!!

Simple, elegant, and effective Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
Mine is actually a TH3 MK3, but close enough. I inherited this from a ham who had had it up since the 70's and was moving to a retirement home. All the hardware was rusted solid and the plastic caps and covers were pretty well disintegrated. I contacted Hy-Gain and was happy to hear that they would sell me a stainless-hardware and plastics kit. I completely dismantled the antenna and replaced all the rusted/disintegrated parts. I got the thing on my modest 35 foot tower on Sept 1, 2003.

This is the first beam I've ever owned and it has completely amazed me! I still can't believe how well it performs and that the traps are still in perfect shape. I think the most impressive thing about this antenna is it's durability and longevity. I expect that whoever inherits this antenna from me in another 30 years will still be able to refurbish it again as I did, especially since they shouldn't have to drill out the rusted bolts as I did.

It's a great performer, a true phoenix, and beautiful in it's simplicity.
