Caution Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
This is a clever design, sturdily constructed. But its use is illegal in Texas (according to the DPS, at least) and may be in other states, too.

Anything that obstructs the visibility of any part of the license plate is illegal in Texas. So many trailer hitches behind a license plate are also illegal, and enforcement seems random.

Use at your own risk.

Very Good Product Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.

I bought this mount for use on HF, it assembles quite easily and all of the hardware is included. I mounted mine to a Honda Accord, I grounded the mount using the supplied copper braid to the inside of the trunk lid. Everything they give you with this mount is top notch.
Like the other guy a few reviews down, I use mine with an ATAS 100 screwdriver. Since the Atas uses a coaxial connection underneath, I inverted the supplied connector and used it with the ATAS and simply changed the end of the coax to solder lugs and it works FB.
This mount is tough, it looks like it wont handle a big antenna but it does (tested at 80+ mph)``````. Just make sure you mount this thing right, put large washers behind the bolts that pass thru into the trunk as the plastic square license plate holders will not hold this thing to the car (with a large mobile HF antenna without trying to pull the plastic license plate bracket retainers out of the holders).
The mount itself is fantastic, it tilts most antennas you use slightly forward but they work just fine that way. Anyway, get one.. You wont be sorry!! Regards.. Richy N2ZD

like it so far Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
i bought this mount about a mointh ago due to the current car is a 97 mercury sable and the trunk deck and back fenders are either plastic or fiberglass and the bumber isnt much to attach anything to either
i found this unit mounted quick and easy i selected to mount it upside down so the tab is under the plate and everything lined up fine
the only problem i had was went i ordered it online i told them i wanted the wrong part number i order the tm-1+ insteed of the tm-1 and they wanted me to ship trhe whole thing back so i just went down to local radio shack and bought one of there acorn mounts and put it on the mouynt rather than the SO239 barrel that came with it the only thing is it tilts toward the car rather than being straight vertical but at highway speeds who cares....grin

A very decent product. Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
A novel and useful product - certainly beats drilling visible holes in the car!

Caveats:
1. Its dimensions were not quite right - I had to trim the bottom of my license plate to get the license plate to fit over the "L" antenna holder that sticks out at the bottom.

2. Replace the stock quick disconnect with a much heavier one.

3. Use no antennas heavier than Ham Sticks (But that's OK, because that's what it was designed for).

Installation Tips:
Be prepared to buy extra stainless steel bolts to "customize" your installation - not all cars use chassis-mounted bolts to hold the license plate nor do the threaded holes for these bolts have enough strength to hold an antenna at highway speeds.

For example, my car uses a separate plastic license plate holder with no mechanical strength so I mounted the license plate mount directly to the car by drilling holes behind the license plate, mounting the plastic plate holder over it, and replacing the four license plate bolts with longer bolts to hold the license plate over the added bolts, plastic mount, and Lakeview Mount (forming a 3-layer sandwich!).
