Average weather radio Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
I'm not sure what the previous reviewer is talking about. The WR-120 does NOT have an AM/FM radio and it does NOT run off batteries. Batteries are only for memory backup. Anyway, it is a fairly average weather radio. I can receive my local NOAA station (25 miles) with almost full quieting on the internal whip, yet the radio will NOT trigger a S.A.M.E. alert unless I hook up an external antenna. Kinda defeats the convenience factor.

Good NOAA weather alert radio Time Owned: more than 12 months.
This NOAA weather radio has S.A.M.E. capability, as well as the ability to let you select the alerts you want to hear. It works very well. It also receives AM and FM stations, and has an alarm clock feature. Unlike the WR-300 that I used to have, this radio shuts off at the end of the alert. The WR-300 stayed on for 5 minutes. The radio will run just fine from AA batteries for 5-6 hours, and is simple to program. The AC adapter works well.
