My first 2 meter rig! Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I saw the review for it's 50 watt cousin and thought I would share my thoughts on the TR-7930.

This was my first 2 meter rig. A real brick it was. Worked very well, for what it was. I got mine for $100 from N8GQS many years ago, before I passed my Tech license.

Later, it did develop a weird problem with the receive, that was related to heat. But, it worked well. I still have it here.

It would make a good starter rig for someone getting into the hobby. You just have to make sure that you get the tone board for it.

I used mine for packet radio and it was a workhorse of a rig.
