Does the Job Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Today I received my CHA FT-817 BRACKET 2.0 and to say I'm happy with the product is an understatement! The unit is well made, nicely finished and installed easily. Everything fit perfectly on my FT-817ND. I have access to all controls and in my opinion the bracket provides a level of protection to the radio. Included is a very nicely machined microphone clip and legs that elevate the front of the unit for a better viewing angle. These legs fold up neatly out of the way when not in use. I was surprised to see such a well made neck/shoulder strap included. All in all a great product and a bargain, worth the investment.

Solved My Problem Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I love my FT-817 and have it in a military-style bag with all the "stuff" you really need to operate portable. The problem was that with the radio sitting up in the bag, the weight of the radio is supported by the cables plugged in to the back of the radio. I had one coaxial cable go bad that way. I tried to fabricate something from wood and it just didn't work. The solution is the CHA FT-817 BRACKETS! They hold the radio up in the bag so the cables don't get crimped. A side benefit is they protect the knobs and face of the radio on top too. They also have legs to prop the front of the radio up when using it on a field desk. The fit and finish are great too. If you take your FT-817 out in the field portable, you need to protect it with a set of these brackets.

Works for me! Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Using the FT-817 on a desk is awkward because it has no internal kickstand to angle the faceplate to the operator.

The Chameleon bracket has fold down legs that do so. It also has a strap and microphone holder.

The design is thought out, the components are top grade, and build quality is excellent.

Could I have achieved this DIY using other materials for much less? Probably, IF I had the tools (and practice to perform neat work) but durability might not be as great.

Plus, this just looks good. It looks like it is OEM, making for an attractive appearance at the operating position, important for family satisfaction!
