Review Summary For : Bird 8166 Dummy Load / Coaxial Resistor
Reviews: 1MSRP: 299.00
Description:
The Series 8000 Termaline Load Resistors are portable, general purpose 50 ohm coaxial transmission line terminations. They are self-contained units, liquid free and air
cooled, requiring no outside power source or additional equipment. They provide accurate, dependable, and practically nonreflective terminations for testing and adjusting
transmitters under nonradiating conditions.

Series 8000 dry loads can absorb their individual maximum rated RF power levels continuously and dissipate them harmlessly as heat over their entire frequency range. Because they are dry, they are attitude insensitive and can therefore, with some restrictions, be used in any position.

Top Notch Commercial Quality 150 watt Dummy Load Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
This dummy load is no longer in production, but you can find them on the usual auction site. If you look and wait you can pick one up for usually less than $100 (shipping included).

The manual from Bird for this series of loads is still available at: http://www.birdrf.com/~/media/Bird/Files/PDF/discontinued-manuals/920-8000S_coaxial-load-resistor.ashx

Not much to look at in the manual of course... it's a dummy load. Another thing to mention is that the RF connectors are still available new from Bird. Just look on their website for dummy load / coaxial resistor accessories.

I found a nice clean one for a great price. 100% duty cycle at the rated wattage of 150 watts. It will get warm quickly even at 100 watts, but it can take it.
