Description:
EFHW-4010-HP 1500W Multi-Band End Fed Half Wave Antenna

This is an End-Fed Half-Wave (EFHW*) antenna for
40/20/15/10m bands. Unlike many END FED antennas on the
market, this one does not require the Antenna Tuner to
operate. It is resonant Half wave on 40m (7MHz) therefore
also resonant on second, third and fourth harmonics. Due
to High Impedance feed point, the antenna is less height
dependent. You can put it up at 10 or 50 feet in the air
without much change in VSWR values.
Product is in production

Simple installation and works great Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
my DX-EE got taken down by a tree branch and I wanted to try something new. Saw this antenna and the reviews seemed promising. I have it anchored to the side of my home about 20 ft above the ground and then extended up into the tree line about 50 feet. Connected the IC7300 and was able to make multiple contacts will minimal tuning efforts. I have this as my primary until i get the Zero-Five installed, but it is a great alternative to the DX-EE. Tunes with the radio to 10,15,20 and 40 with no issues. i have made multiple FT8 and SSB contacts using this antenna and get great signal reports.

Good Luck except for the HP! Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Bought one of these and 3 other types. Tried everything. Sure got some to tune WITH TUNER. But why fake an Antenna out had three guys help me move the antenna in every way but down and was able to work some stations but got very poor reports. Don't try and get support or you will get chewed out. Ever notice that all reviews as shown on his website are nothing but 5 stars.
One thing I see all through his and eham reviews is the need for something other than putting the antenna up and than using it. One had to add a coil and cut it. Next one person is adding a choke balun. Next one had to add length.
What the hexx, He is selling these antennas as plug and play. I just don’t see that. Read the eham reviewers on all these antennas. They all seem to have the same problem. The way they are rated is different than actual pep or rms. First CAS? Now ICAS?
The 80-10 End Fedz is good for a 10min CW qso before the SWR goes sky high at 400watts but rated at 1kw. His resolve was to purchase the 2kw one. Then try working the upper part of 80meters. Not going to happen. But someone out their has a fix for it.
As far as support, your on your own. No phone number as in his words ” I spent more time teaching stupid hams about antenna theory” that I had to stop phone support. Now you have to try and type a detailed message about your question and wait to get chewed out in return.
These are advertised as plug and play antennas and they are anything but. Their website does not get into any details and you will receive NO instructions or do’s and don’ts.
I have purchased 4 antennas from him and he has said he would except only one back. I won't waste my time. But, if you run into me in Orlando say hello, I'll be the guy selling 4 used my antennas.
Don’t look for him to be in business long as he told me. Never thought he would sell many.
I hate to shame a fellow ham, but after 40 years this guy is nasty.

a Winner Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I live in a HOA challenged neighborhood. My Cobra antenna finally died from the Texas sun after many years of use. The ladder line insulation became brittle and crumbled away. A wonderful antenna.

Owing to my advancing years and some loss of my sense of balance, my XYL encouraged me to hire someone to remove and replace the old Cobra.

I had a local handyman suspend the EFHW 4010-HO from the the eaves of my roof with TV standoff insulators.. The balun is mounted on the side of a porch pillar about 4 feet above ground. The box is grounded below with a 4ft. ground rod. The antenna runs vertically about 8 feet and the follows the eave in a inverted V configuration. The far and of the antenna is about 10 feet above ground. 50 feet od RG8x coax feed line is used.

The SWR on 40 and 20 are 1:1. T Signal reports are excellent at 100 watts. I can run 500 watts if needed.

Ideal for high-power lightweight dxpeditions Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I was going for dxpeditions with KX3 + Expert 1.3k combination that weighs only 15kg and can easily generate KW. The question was what antenna to use that would have SWR < 3:1 on multiple bands. One option was a 40ft vertical or inverted V and a tuner. But a manual tuner is large and needs time for tuning, and an automatic tuner would also be loud. A multiband vertical (few wires on a fiberglass pole) would cover at most few bands and would pick up lots of noise and could be inefficient. Then I heard about the high power endfeds: EFHW4010HP (40-20-15-10) and EFHW8010HP (all 80-10). The first one weighs 1 kg and a cable to convert it to 8010HP weighs an extra 0.5 kg.

When running at a KW level the box is barely warm on some bands and warmer but not hot on other bands. SWR mostly < 1.3 but <2 on some, which Expert 1.3k can easily match. As the coax is an extension of the antenna and can be RF warm (but not hot), I added a makeshift balun of a few turns of coax around a toroid some 20ft (not critical) from the matching box. This reduced SWR and eliminated any RF touch.

I tried the endfeds low and high and SWR did not change much. Having all the weight on a side is very convenient as it reduces load on a support and makes the coax connection shorter, especially when installed as inv V.

As CE0Y/NO9E I used EFHW4010HP set as inv V on 12m Spiderpole and made > 2000 QSOs on 40-20-15-10. Big pileups. Compared to an elevated 15m vertical the endfed was comparable but much quieter. Never a problem and instant switching.
