It's cheap and works OK Time Owned: more than 12 months.
At least five of our club members have the UV-82X and have been using it for approximately 2 years and nobody has mentioned the harmonics problem stated in one of the reviews. We use it predominantly to hit our 220 repeaters.

Since it is made in China and very cheap, there is of course the possibility of receiving a defective one from a bad quality control batch.

We all noticed that the stock antenna doesn't usually last very long and most of us have replaced the stock antennas with better antennas that cost just as much as the radio!

Mine got drenched in a rainstorm and stopped working (it is NOT waterproof). I was going to throw it out and buy another one but a club member took it, disassembled it, dried it out, and returned it to me in perfect working order!

The manual is joke to understand and it is a hassle to program but it has been extremely reliable.

Generates illegal harmonics when used on 220! Time Owned: more than 12 months.
It is my understanding this product has been discontinued.

This radio has been evaluated as generating extremely strong harmonics on 70cm when used on 220 frequencies.

It is advised to discontinue use of this radio on 220. My tests verify this.
