Just works, and does the job. Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I was actually given this in CB days when another operator was tossing it out. Thinking there couldn't be much wrong with it, I snagged it.
All the fault was the drain hole was blocked, so I dried it out, rubbed it down (old brittle fibreglass is hard on the hands, wear gloves) with some emery cloth and gave it two coats of marine varnish.
Put it back up and it's been fine since.
When I got my ticket in '21, I was happy to find that the A99 is tuneable on every band from 10m down to 17m, but mine won't quite tune on 20m. Not a problem, I have an inverted V specifically for 20m which performs well enough.
Don't believe a word of the utterly stupidly outrageous claims of power handling from the original makers or the later ones, - they're all BS. I put 100W through it with no problems, but I'd be really reluctant to feed it with much more.
Oh, this one is at least 30 years old, from what I was told, so it's one of the good ones, by all accounts. I heard the later ones weren't so good and quality control slipped a bit.

hello! I am writing my short review and follow up
of my earlier article. I bought my 305 the same
day my cousin n3xol did. I mainly bought it for 10 meter work and boy oh boy! antenna is very easy
to assemble and the parts are few. instructions
are clear and construction is solid. 3 fiberglass
sections go together along with 3 short ( 5 inch )
radials in the center. feedline attaches to the bottom. I put mine on a 30 ft mast. the antenna
is a little over 18 ft tall and handles the wind well. rated @ 2500 watts pep. using a ts 570 dg,
the swr without the tuner was 1.2 from 28.000 -
28.325 mhz. from 28.325 - 28.800 it was only 1.5!
28.800 - 29.600 it was no higher than 2:1
naturally, it was 1:1 across 10 with the tuner.
It also tuned 12,15,17 and some of 20.
my signal reports into europe, south america, africa etc have been great. many 10-20 / 5-9.
stateside great too. can basically talk to everyone I hear when the band is open.
swr is easy to tune with the tuning sleeve.
noise floor very quiet with mine. also with the
rain, swr only goes up a couple of points.
I don't have room for big antennas so this ones
a keeper. as a casual hf operator, I'm very
satisfied! also using rg 8 x coax. good deal
for under $100.00

FIBERGLASS CONSTRUCTION. PUT UP IN 1/2 HR - 45 MIN. ALSO TUNED 12,15,17,20 METERS, NO PROBLEM!
PUTTING MINE UP TOMMORROW, WILL WRITE MORE!
