Very good RF quiet DC to AC Inverter Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I ordered this DC to AC Pure Sine Wave Inverter to help provide un-interupted power to my GPS timing standard. One main requirement was the need for an RF quiet switcher that was friendly to ham radio. The unit is well shielded and is mechanically well built. Tests with a spectrum analyzer and portable shortwave receiver indicated little RF hash on the ham bands. The only RF interference was noted on the DC input leads. With my uncalibrated RF loop the analyzer showed emissions of a max of 0DBM up to about 3 MHZ on the input leads. Since I live in a very quiet location, I added additional external EMI filtering to the input and lowered this level down approximately 70DB. I now have to get within 6 inches of the input with the portable shortwave receiver to hear any RF noise. This is a great result and unit should do well in any ham shack. Any two section EMI filter by such OEM's as Corcom should be all you need on the input. Be sure to size the current on the EMI filter as the PST-300 can draw up to 40 amps at 12 volts when delivering the full 300 watts.
