Nothing but Kudo's Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Ok just an update, with out a doubt, the VL 2-3 UB, is far and away the most versatile UB, 3el mono band 20 thru 6, 2el full size 7 & 10mhz, this is my second UB since 2012/13,
any issues can be traced to construction or misuse,
it is quite incredible really,
I do not understand the gripes at all,
cheers

ok well just an update of my previous review, nothing has changed, this is one Wonderful HF antenna, 8 bands on one feed,
fantastic front to back, on 40Mtrs it is a formidable antenna, with true to design figures, 40M Dx is terrific, best RF Sniffer on 7mhz I have ever used,
I have trouble shot quite a few Ultrabeam Antennas,
like SPE amplifiers, sometimes the product is to smart for the users,
WIMO now build and service UB range of antennas, so warranty and support is now First Class,
antenna design engineers can only do so much,
there is NO Common sense packaged in the instructions, you need to supply that your self,

Keep up the good work

it's ok now Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Second part:
After a contact with the dealer of the beam, and talk to a OM using the same type of aerial, the function 180° and bi-direc are not active on 40 M band, so this is not indicated into the manual of the antenna !
Now I may put n° 5 to this antenna.

Fantastic Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
I have always been impressed with the build quality and performance of the ultra beam antennas. My last ultra beam was the 6-20DX antenna up on the tower for over four years used most days without a single problem.I took the 6-20DX down to replace it with the UB640 VL-2-3 which meant i lost a element on the higher bands but gained 2 elements on 40,30 meters. My new ultra beam is built like a tank and the performance is outstanding,I now call in the pileups on 40 meters and work the DX with ease,8 bands 40-6m with one coax feed.My qth is 1000ft asl and in the last six months we have had some very high winds and bad storms and the ultra beam as handled everything mother nature as thrown at it very well.Building the antenna was very simple with the clear instructions on the ultra beam website which can be printed off. I have worked some amazing DX at the bottom of the sunspot cycle with the UB640 VL 2-3.

Thanks for another great product.

Endless Trouble Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
After having bad luck with the very early STEPPIR antennas, I decided to try this antenna because of the claimed superiority. Boy was this a big mistake.

I have this antenna installed for just under 1 year now. It has been unreliable and plagued with endless problems. Problems from the tapes jamming, mechanical construction and parts failures. Just above every month I have had a issue. It has cost me a small fortune to get a tower climber to go look and remove this antenna.

What makes matters worst is the total lack of support from the factory. Not even courtesy replies to emails that seems to go down a black hole when you complain. The lack of documentation shows what a failing contraption this is. If you cant even sort out a simple manual what hope is there that the maker can actually design something that lasts and has good engineering input. I would suggest none based on my experience.

It has been my worst purchase in my amateur radio career. It has really put me off these dynamic antennas for life. These antennas while having good performance when they work, they are not fit for purpose to install on top of a tower. Unless you have a full time maintenance crew on standby for repairs dont touch this antenna. I have wasted more than 5000 dollars on cheap fiberglass tubes and a mouse trap contraption that constantly fails. I am going back to good old aluminum antennas even if I have to give up 40 and 30 meter performance. Considering that I had a TH6DXX up for 30 years without failure you can understand my lack of faith in these Micky mouse antennas that constantly fail.

Buyer Beware!!!

Outstanding product but zero service Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
After i removed my hexbeam, which I was very happy with
I decided to buy this antenna
I have put it together in 2 days just bij my self
It went fairly smoothly because I have a vertical bigirr from steppir and know the product
What I am disappointed in is that there are no manuals when i recieved the antenna
i have send email to ultrabeam to ask them but no responds

I'm worried about it now

In case something is broken or no longer works they will fail me

But at the moment I am very happy with my purchase

It's a top antenna and definitely the new controller

Why not steppir? Just clear that it's on another continent
I think ultra beam and steppir are similar antenna kwality and that steppir have better after service except that ultra beam they have done 1 step more to evolution with their new controller
