Interesting product Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I must admit, I just got this item yesterday, but I did have a couple of QSO's with it last night. It's a little strange having the speaker in your hand and it takes a little getting used to adjusting the volume with the microphone control.
First impressions, the box it comes in is pathetic, really cheep cardboard, just thought it would come in a nicer box. It has an "instruction" sheet in the box that refers you to pages in the KX2/3 manual for microphone settings, why not just print that out on the provided sheet, also no mention of where you might want to set the KX2/3 audio level when using the microphone. I agree with another reviewer that the use of a barrel connector for the USB charging connection is kind of strange and non-standard in case you lose the cable. Microphone has an LED light on it, looks to be ORANGE while charging an BLUE when in use, I would prefer a way to turn it off or dim it, and also it might be nice if it turned RED during TX. Seems to be nice build quality and cable seems nice also. Thanks for reading.

Good sounding speaker Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I am giving this product a 4, rather than a 5 because of the USB charger connection. Micro USB has been a standard for several years, and I can't understand why this device needs a special cable for charging. Just another cable that I need to keep track of, and carry everywhere with the AlexMic.

Great Speaker Microphoner for KX2 and KX3 Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I purchased my AlexMic at the Dayton (Xenia) Hamvention in May from Alex, PY1AHD. It is both a microphone and amplified speaker; and it is a terrific addition in use with my KX2 and KX3 with their limited speaker audio capabilities. It has great audio in both transmit and receive and its internal lithium battery last up to 8 hrs and recharges rapidly using a standard 5v USB charging cable (supplied) and 5v source from computer, wall wart, or battery.

KX2/KX3 Speaker Improvement Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
I love my KX3. But the internal speaker, while adequate, could use some help. The AlexMic's microphone works just like the Elecraft MH3. But the AlexMic also includes an amplified speaker that puts out 2W peak audio power, and the audio sounds great. An internal lithium battery lasts about 8-hours and recharges in about 2-hours with the mic's internal USB smart charger (USB charging cable included). A great accessory for the KX2/KX3.

Excellent accessory Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
The Elecraft KX3 is an excellent radio, incredible performance at field, but my only complaint about this little radio is the speaker quality, so I always preferred to operate with headphones, so when I saw that the Alexmic is a mic and also an amplified speaker I bought it immediately, the mic has an excellent performance, you don't need to adjust your TX EQ for a quality and punching signal, and the speaker lets you adjust the volume to hear the signals very clear at field or at your shack. The speaker could be recharged with a USB 5W cable with any telephone or tablet charger. Finally thanks Alex for the initiative to solve this issue for this amazing radio.

A great add-on for your portable gears! Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
This MIC is a great addition to my portable gears! The microphone is connected directly into both transceiver mic and earphone connectors. That way, the audio is now completely rerouted to the amplified speaker microphone. We have to admit that the internal speaker system into a KX3 or a KX2 is in some way quite limited… but that’s ok… we all want a small transceiver form factor.

The audio response is between 200 Hz and 8 kHz and weight only 200g. With a maximum 2.5W audio output, it will let you hear anything more easily by having it nearer to your ears. The user also has the possibility to connect a pair of small earphone directly beneat the microphone body. A 3.5mm mono connector is located beside the mic cord. A blue LED indicates that the device is indeed turned on, and becomes purple when charging.

This speaker microphone performance is actually well welcome by the Elecraft team and active users. It represents an excellent addition to all portable solutions for people using an Elecraft KX2 or KX3 in the field.

For a price at 125$ USD, it really worths it. The lack of audio when being portable is now easily solved with this nice piece of equipment.
