Review Summary For : Begali Sculpture Janus
Reviews: 4MSRP: € 510.00
Description:
The Sculpture Janus is perfect if you like paddles with narrow spacing, and/or if you want to experiment with both modes of operation, "squeeze" mode and single lever mode. Like the other Sculpture keys, the Janus is made from virtually indestructible stainless steel, the moving parts are light-weight aircraft aluminum, the racing bearings are instrument grade, and the contacts are solid gold 14 carats (Solid raw Gold Material).
Product is in production

Best of the best Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Just received my Janus and this is my second Begali key. The keys they produce are second to none. Not only are they a beautiful work of art, the construction is impeccable! This key is a beast! I am pretty heavy fisted but this key absolutely will not be moved! The paddle design allows for ease of use and the spacing and resistance are easily adjusted to fit whatever your preferred settings might be. Cannot praise Begali enough. Quick email response & great product make them a pleasure to deal with!
If you are looking for a key that will last a couple of lifetimes this is the key!

Would I recommend a Begali? Don’t be stupid like me Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
I’m very reserved when giving advice or recommendations on things to others. What works for me might not click for others no matter how blind they may be ;) I can say without reserve there is only two on the list, Scorpion Antennas and Begali Keys. CW for me was a love/hate relationship early on doing good on the air only to flub up at the FCC when testing when we had to prove our abilities. I’ve always used Benchers and several other makes of keys over the years and felt those who had a Begali were bragging either how much they spent, or you know how it goes. I had a friend say that he was looking a getting a Begali and asked what I thought of them. Gave him the basic response of “There good” and that night I started looking at them in more detail while waiting for a net to start. Review after review of praise and not one voice of friction. Gave Bruna (Pietro’s daughter) an email with a few questions and was blown away how sincere and professional they are. Looking at all the eye candy was the hardest thing for me trying to decide which one to get. We both decided on getting the Sculpture Janus keys and I can honestly say after several months if hard use I find myself wondering why I waisted so many years using crap. I assumed a key was just a key, boy was I wrong! The first night when it arrived, I was up all night, the Begali magic touched me and I had one of the best times ever doing CW with only one or two mistakes all night and not with a tired fist! With the exception of having to remove the sticky stuff from cotton candy fingered grandchild that occurred when I was at work it has performed flawlessly. Would I recommend a Begali? Don’t be stupid like me, if you are learning or a regular brass pounder spend a little more and get something that works, support that is unheard of now of days and enjoy the original digital mode. Simplly awesome! Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
I do not collect keys or paddles. Some years ago I switched from an Iambic paddle to a single lever paddle. I had experimented a bit and found that I could send better CW with a single lever and that is all I have used for 5 or 6 years. When I first saw the Begali Sculpture, I thought of going back to Iambic, because the Sculpture was so beautiful. When I first saw the Sculputre Mono I just did not like the looks as much as I thought I might. A friend then got a Leonessa and I thought the option to change from single lever to dual lever was fascinating, and I looked at the Leonessa on the Begali website. That is when I first noticed the Sculpture Janus... I was hooked, and ordered one in late January. I asked for delayed shipping and the paddle arrived the day after I returned from a short trip. I first used it as a dual lever paddle to get a 'feel' for the action, which was silky smooth. I then set it for single lever use, and that took a bit of fussing to get it to reliably send both dots and dashes on demand. Since putting it into service, I have made a little under 1000 QSOs. From time to time when I actuate the paddle it will fail to key the rig. Another tap and it again performs flawlessly. I have not figured out if I still don't have it adjusted perfectly, or if it is an issue with my hands. I have some nerve damage in my hands and can't always tell by 'feel' if I have actually pressed on the paddle as I intended to do. The paddle is clearly better than I am, but I may still play with the adjustment a bit more, just in case a slight tweak will make it better still.
