PERFECT PERFORMER FOR 40 AND 80 M Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I have this antenna for quite some years now and I can only say that it is a terrific antenna for 40 and 80 meters.
The performance is very good and meets the specification supplied by the manufacturer Optibeam. The swr is very low on the entire 40 meter band and on 80 meters enought to cover the Dx window and more, also an option with relays and coils extend the coverage of the antenna. It is electrically excellent, performance and interlacing with 80 meters is perfect and mechanically is really strong, survived our strong winds here up to 120 km/hr.
If someone have the place and tower to install this nice antenna ,will enjoy the low bands very much, make working Dx very easy.
I recomend a strong tower along with a good rotator system.

A review for Optibeam8040x. 2 element 80m and 3 element 40m. Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
This is an outstanding antenna for 80 and 40m. I had a 2 element 80m OptiBeam antenna before, and decided to have a 3 element 40m Yagi. So this was a perfect replacement.
After much deliberation between many pro and con of different manufactures, I chose this antenna.
It is mounted on the top of a LUSO 36XX tower. It is a 2 element coil loading 80/75m antenna with multi-switch for optimal performance at different segments of the band, the antenna resonates at 3795, the center of the DX window with SWR 1.1, at CW segment SWR also 1.1.
On the 40m, there are 3 full-sized elements, interlaced with the 80m elements on the same long boom, 15 meters that is almost 50 feet long.
The antenna is heavy, but well designed and constructed. The shipping was impeccable and on time. It took us one good day to put the 8040x together ready for the crane work.
The 40m antenna perform flawlessly so far, electrically like in the product brochure and modeling data, although the band is not good so far, I can work any station I hear with strong performance. It is more than a joy to have this antenna.
I am frugal, but this is an expensive antenna, but let me tell you that the money is well-spent and certainly worthy.
It has to go the test of California weather, but all I am very glad this this antenna.
