Works fine... Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
Not much to say... I use it at 100 watts through an Outbacker Perth Plus antenna. Tunes fine. I can have the antenna resonant at 20 meters, and use the tuner down at 75 meters without going out and changing bands on the antenna. Very handy. Haven't used it mobile, but for base work, I know it works fine. I would recommend it.

Good field day tuner Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I have the C model with the one needle meter.

Plus

Will tune 20 meters perfectly on my 102" CB whip just like my full sized 80 meter doublet (dipole). Seems to be well built inside. Fair price. Small size.

Minus

The inductor knob slipped because of a hard to turn inductor switch. Even after oiling the inductor switch is still a little hard to turn.

Takes a while to find the perfect match.

Coax connectors are mounted with brads. May loosen over time.

I used this model in my mobile for slightly over a year, and the meter stopped working. The meters MFJ uses in all of their tuners are very cheaply built. Ok matching for single or dual band HF mobile rigs but I guess it could not handle the ride...

Nice little QRP Tuner Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
After hearing about other MFJ tuners that were not up to very high standards, I decided to open my 945E up and give it a good going over. I was very pleased with the construction as I have been pleased with the performance since winning it on EBay. The solder work around the tuning coil taps and switch was very neat and professional, and the horizontal positioning of the coil itself led to a very compact design. Although I would never try to put 300 watts of RF into it, I love it for qrp work, and find it to be solidly built. The plastic sides of the Ten-Tec style enclosure may be a turn-off to some, but I have not seen any signs of detuning from hand capacity or other effects. It is very important to use a good ground on any Ham installation, and many of the problems that are blamed on antenna tuners in general, are probably due to the negative effects of a poor or completely absent RF ground! I'm not sure the meters would hold up under several years of mobile operation, but if it is treated with reasonable care it should last for several years.

Great Tuner Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
For the price this tuner cannot be beat. I tune up my long wire on all bands from HF to 6 meters.

I would highly recommend it.

brilliant Time Owned: more than 12 months.
i ran this model in my 18 wheeler for about 2 years running 300 watts through it through a sireo 4000 on the mirror mount, this little tuner was great and i bought it second hand for £40 off a mate, i ran mine on the 11m band and i had no problems tuning the antenna to 1.1 with the mfj wacking 300 watts through it on ssb, there only small and no wider than the 2950, 5 inchs long and 1 inch deep so there great for the mobile, ive got fond memories of my set up in the 18 wheeler and that little mfj 945 to (THERE GREAT)
