Description:
In 1966 Yaesu Musen Company released their first HF transceiver. It was a complete compact base/mobile station, mainly of solid state construction. Known as the FT-100, it represented a quantum advance in technology for that time, particularly for the mobile ham radio operator. Now only the FT-100B and FTdx100 stood between this and Yaesu's most famous radio of all, the FT-101 !

Not bad for nearly 50! Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Can't believe there are no reviews of this radio - the foreunner to the venerable FT101. Also sold in Europe as the Sommerkamp FTdx150. I have restored a lot of Ham Radio gear..and when this appeared at the local club, I knew it was a little bit of history. All germnanium transistors, poor access to parts in the radio, very limited documentation..odd 6JM6 sweep tubes. But after a thorough clean up, replacement of the AGC amp transistor (NPN ge..had to buy one) it works fine..yes it overloads on 40m and the filter skirts are a bit wide - but - its intstant on, no drift, loads of RF drive and sounds pretty good. All they left out of the package was an internal loudspeaker.Steve G3ZPS London UK
