Description:
Steve Weber, KD1JV has designed a inexpensive device to
help you learn or improve your cw skills virtually
anywhere. We are calling it the KD1JV Code Trainer. You can
practice receiving code at 5-30 wpm just about anywhere. It
is small enough to slip into your shirt pocket and using
some ear buds, you are good to go. It is small, highly
portable, and runs on a simple coin cell.
Product is in production

Excellent kit, arrived quickly, worked first time : - ) Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
QRP Guys got this kit out to me under the COVID wire, so to speak, before they had to stop shipping. Got it a couple days ago and assembled it today.
Great instructions, no worries, and it worked! A great value.
I'm using it to improve my CW sending. I cable the audio output to an amplified PC Speaker system. Then I let FLDIGI decode what my PC's webcam hears to verify my "fist."
Initial results show I have some work to do: too many spaces between characters in words where there shouldn't be any spaces! : - )

Well made, vry easy to build and works Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
For $20 + shipping and a half hour of soldering you get a really nice code practice oscillator. Kit super easy to build, QRpguys really do a great job with their documentation building their kits....it reminds of my old Heathkit days.

You get best of both worlds, just plug in your headphones and key, and you're in business. You can practice sending using single or iambic paddles, straight key or whatever at between 5 to 30 wpm. You can also use the trainer to send code characters for copying practice. The trainer can do Farnsworth.

Audio output is clean and plenty of drive for typical headphones. Also there's a green LED for visual display.

You communicate with the board using your key, again typical for this stuff. You can also program the trainer using the 3 on board push-buttons to change parameters.

Have fun and see you on the CW bands.

Excellent kit! Fun way to practice. Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
My rating is based on my limited experiences.

1) Cost - you really can't go wrong. Our hobby gives us many ways to bankrupt ourselves...these fantastic kits are not one of those ways. For $15 (shipping not included) you get a professionally done kit.

2) Project - the kit itself is easily put together (15 minutes). Nothing confusing or difficult. Excellent for the first time builder or Juniors getting into building.

3) Purpose - practice code anywhere. It isn't the most advanced thing and for $15 it shouldn't be. I know people use their smartphones but I want to practice with my actual key (palm pico-paddle). I also like the flashing LED which helps me visualize what I'm hearing.

I highly recommend this kit if you are into building, morse code or just fun stuff.
