good radio Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Use mine bought ten years ago as standby unit.

Well built, good TX performance and rx on ham bands.Never had any electronic/mechanical problems with it.

However the rx on the wide receiver has marked lower sensitivity than the other receiver and the mini jack for the stick antenna is not practical at all if you want to add an external antenna.Buttons are very small. Intermod could be better.

Typical ICOM quality over all.

If you look for an unusual radio here it is, might be hard to find a used one.

Not bad... Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
This HT is not bad for the used price of around $100. The only thing I found is that the transmit and receive audio is not very loud. With an external speaker/ mic it does nicely.

Workhorse Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I have owned this unit for ten years now, and it has performed day in and day out. After using nearly every other 2M HT out there, and many wide band scanners (all with some gaps in coverage) we found the 2SRA and it answered our prayers. Typical ICOM 2M performance (that is, outstanding; all the features you could want) and excellent scanner coverage, good scanner reciever performance (make an antenna adapter, not too hard, long wire is good), and a well-balanced fit in the hand. We got a Quantum ham battery and it is THE solution. I have run the radio for OVER A YEAR on one charge (not much xmit). If you can find one for cheap, buy it now. Only too bad its not 2M and 440.

2M/Scanner - what more do you need? Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I have owned this Icom rig for three months now. Purchased it after returning to amateur radio after 10-12 years of non-activity. Thought this would allow to me get back into ham radio wihtout outlaying a huge sum of money. Finding accessories for it now is almost impossible, but have purchased CP-13's from VK, external mic/speaker from Canada, and a BP-84 and charger from the USA. Originally supplied with a BP-82 but the radio really chews through them. Suggest you purchase a BP-84 with 1000 mHa, this battery goes for days. See review of Kendoo BC-79A for more info. Hits all the local repeaters without from any problems. Only suggestion, don't pay too much money for it, mine is now 11 years old, but still going strong.

Slick, --Practical. Time Owned: more than 12 months.
A neat radio that will give you either 2m or 440 PLUS wideband receive with scanning (25 to 905 without gaps), am, fm, wfm. Will put out up to a full 5 watts (12v). PL encode/decode, plenty of memory and scanning, dtmf, and many other Icom bells and whistles. 2400 mah nimh packs are available for this radio (I have one) and will provide three days of solid operation on one charge. Ive never seen a HT with more stuff on it! Downside: Wideband receive antenna jack should have been a BNC not a mini-jack! Receive audio not the strongest, radio should have been built a little more rugged. Now only available as used for around $200.
