Chinese tube Killers Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
The Russian 811A called G811 are far superior to Chinese 811A tubes. Although the plate structure is rated by size 60 watts, like Chinese tubes the rating is perhaps closer to 55 watts. A true 65 watt plate 811A is made by GE or RCA with the horizontal plate fins.

These Russian tubes are properly made with ultra high vacuum and a carbon coated thorium tungsten filament.

The Chinese 811A tubes that are reported to last 1500 hours by some may be missing the carbon coated filament that greatly reduces filament life.

The carbonization process is a more costly and adds another step and longer evacuation time. The Chinese have a bad habit and at times will do anything to save a dollar and unfortunately 'toss you under the bus'.

So, buy the Russian G-811 (811A) for your ham radio amplifiers. You do not have to suffer with an inferior product. These are available on ebay.

Note- The Russian ARE not a true 811A tube being less plate area vs the RCA 811A. But a RCA 811 has less plate area vs the Russian G-811. It is likely 55 to 60 watts ICAS duty rated and equal to any Chinese 811A and the Russian plate size is identical to all newer 811A tubes. One ham reported they have 20 years use with the Russian tubes and still produce full output. As for the RCA 811A they are rated 65 watts plate dissipation and cost about $100 each in NOS. At that price it is better to use 572B tubes.
The Russian G-811 are superior to Chinese tubes that is your only other option now.
Any tube without the extra welded fins are perhaps a 5 second tune up tube. 30 seconds would melt the plate. The vertical fin does little to help during tune up, but long term the vertical fin has more plate dissipation vs the RCA 811. No tubes available for sale are a true 811A unless an RCA 811A or other vintage brand with the horizontal welded plate fins such as GE. I get 600 watts PEP without any red plate.

Edit- it is not true only RCA 811 or 811A can have an ICAS rating. Every tube is capable of ICAS ratings. And stating the Ryazan G-811 ICAS ratings do not exist, the Russian Ryazan G-811 does have ICAS or absolute maximum ratings from the manufacture. Here:

Constant anode voltage

2500 Volts

Anode current at maximum signal

210 mA

Power dissipated by the anode

65 W

Grid current

50 m
