Description:
This is a 200W version of popular EFHW-4010 End-Fed Half-Wave (EFHW*) antenna for 40/20/15/ and 10m bands. Unlike many END FED antennas on the market, this one does not require the Antenna Tuner to operate. It is resonant Half wave on 40m (7MHz) therefore also resonant on second, third and fourth harmonics. Due to high Impedance feed point, the antenna is less height dependent. You can put it up at 10 or 50 feet in the air without much change in VSWR values.

Generally Not a Tunerless Antenna on 40m Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I purchased this for POTA operating about a month back. With the intent to eliminate an extra cable and tuner. It looks good. The build quality is fairly good, but in probably 3 out of 4 setups I have tried (sloper, inverted v, inverted L at various heights 10-30ft or so etc) the SWR dip on 40m has been >2:1 or just barely below 2:1 at one small portion of the band despite playing with the length. Maybe it I played with the distance to the first coil it would work-don't know. Setup was over dry silty loam type soil. SWR is generally useable on the 15 and 10m bands, but less often on 20m. The mileage varies with the particular setup. For the record, none of the setups have been in town, all out in the open away from buildings and trees with the exception of the support. The support was done using P-cord with no tree limb contact with the remainder of the wire in the clear by tens of feet. I sent an email to MyAntennas asking about my results. To their credit they responded, but were quite condescending. Maybe some 2nd language issues. Not sure. It didn't seem like the guy was quite tracking with what I sent or just very superficially reading what I sent him. I did pop the box open. It looks pretty standard. Nothing was broken, it looked like the ratio was correct. This antenna would be absolutely fantastic with a radio that has an internal tuner, but it can't be relied on without one.

Works well as portable park-activating antenna Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Got this for activating parks for WWFF / POTA. Using a 32 ft mast (from The Mast Company, reviewed elsewhere) to support the 63 ft long wire near the middle in an Inverted-V configuration.

I use thin paracord pulled out 45 ft on each side from the mast, keeping the antenna ends off the ground. This is the medium-power version, it has been used for 100w CW and SSB on 100 degree days in summer and has not overheated even with constant CQing on CW with 100 watts for more than 2 hours (a smaller 49:1 xfmr, rated for 200w, failed after 20 minutes).

This antenna has heavier wire than some but is rugged and has worked well many times, up and down, etc. A good antenna for 40m and harmonics with no tuner needed, it gives very good DX performance on 20m from portable locations. From a Colorado park I've worked a Japanese ham activating a park in Japan on 40m, too. Relatively low wire antennas on 40m (1/4 wl high) still DO radiate at lower angles, despite the "cloud warmer" comments from nay-sayers. Highly recommend this antenna.

Works as advertised ! Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I have had mine up since June ( about 3 months.) I live in a townhome restricted community with a typical HOA. Keeping my antenna(s) stealthy is smart. Mine is in a inverted "V" configuration with one end about 4 feet above ground at the feed point with agood ground. The mid point is about 20 feet above ground and the far end is about 10 feet above ground. The antenna is attached to the side of my house along the roof line with 4 inch TV stand off insulators. My operation is 85% CW on 40meters with the remaining 15% on 20cw. The results are on a par with other wire antennas I have used with heights below 25 feet. I am happy !

Real Deal Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
I live in a river valley in the Appalachian foothills - not the ideal QTH for HF antenna performance. This antenna is strung at about 30', slightly sloped with the grade. It is 65' long, terminated at one end by a sealed balun, with a plastic insulator at the far end. The balun unit features an SO239 and three tabs with holes for attaching support line(s). The wire itself is black-coated.
Installation was straightforward and easy.
It has performed remarkably well. I have worked over 300 QSOs, all 50 states, all but two provinces and 30 countries in roughly 3 months, with this being my only HF antenna. It tunes to very close to 1:1 across 40, 20, 15 and 10m using the internal tuner of a 450D. It does seem to have a slightly cardioid pattern with the peak at the far end and slightly lower at the feed end, but this could be caused by external factors.
Highly recommended for those in the market for this type of antenna. I am in the process of figuring out how to put up it's big brother, the 8010P, which covers the WARC bands as well.
Power handling capacity of this unit is listed as 200w.
