Review Summary For : JK Antennas - Big Tri
Reviews: 3MSRP: $2,395
Description:
The JK Big-Tri has been designed for Hams looking for a
slightly longer boom Tribander while enjoying maximum
performance on 20/15/10.

This Tri-Bander's elements follow the same taper
schedules and element construction as the Navassa5
antenna.

This antenna is very specifically priced and marketed to
the segment of the Ham community that wants to put up a
Yagi with an outstanding signal and the best quality
mechanical build in the marketplace.

This antenna has excellent Gain, F/R and SWR
characteristics and is manufactured the same way as our
larger Yagis with the same high quality materials and
hardware.
Product is in production

JK 404C & Big-Tri Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
After researching many HF commercial antennas, I determined that the JK series of beams would work best for my application. JK antennas are very efficient, attractive and wind-sturdy. Also, JK’s provided aluminum is stronger than other grades offered by other antenna manufacturers. Ken at JK helped me determine the right antenna selection based on my interests. Ken is extremely knowledgeable, kind and more than willing to go the extra mile to discuss antenna selection/installation details. Each beam of interest modeled a wide band width of low SWR operation. I ended up purchasing and installing a 10-15-20 meter “Big Tri” placed 2’ above my ROHN 55G tower’s top plate and a 40-meter four element “404C” beam placed 10’ above the “Big Tri”. Both antennas are supported by a 100’ ROHN 55G tower, 3” diameter chrome-moly mast, Phillystran guy wires and small prop-pitch rotator (provided by SK Kurt Andress – K7NV). The process of purchasing was very easy. Both beams arrived at the same time within just a few days after the order was placed. There was about a year between the purchase of antennas and the installation. Once all the groundwork and tower preparation was complete, Ken suggested that I call Hector Garcia and request his help with the tower erection and antenna installation. I followed Ken’s advice and contacted Hector. Hector said he would help me and we scheduled the installation during the last week of October 2022. Hector and his brother Johnathan did a fantastic job assembling both JK beams. The two-man crew was extremely time efficient and quality of workmanship outstanding. With the use of a crane, the installation of the tower and beams occurred within just three hours. Hector noticed that one of the beam’s elements had a little dent that must have occurred during shipping. Hector called Ken and discussed repair options. Ken provided overnight shipping of a sleeve to place over the blemished section of the element. Ken made sure the repair was performed properly. Although the antenna arrived a year prior to the installation, Ken provided the repair material with no additional charge. Both beams function very well and within JK’s documented specifications. I hear DX calls louder than I’ve heard from my previous vertical and dipole antenna configuration. These beams provide me with an amazing new experience. I’m very pleased with the JK product and Ken’s customer service. I’m sure that when I’m ready to add or change out antennas in the future, I’ll be calling JK again. The experience was superb.

Very fine Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I installed this antenna at 90' this past June, so I've had a chance to see how it performed in the IARU, the NAQP-CW and the WAE-CW contests. The antenna performed very well. Because of the poor band conditions, I have to believe I could hear and work weaker stations only because of the antenna. This is a big antenna with a 36' boom and 16 elements weighing ~150 lbs when finished, yet the construction is pretty straight forward and consistent with JK designs. Typical of JK antennas, parts are very well labeled and the manual well laid out. The elements and "saddles" are well constructed and the fit is very good. The SWR performance came out exactly as represented in the manual. I'm now evaluating a second Big JK-Tri as a stack.

Fantastic Antenna Time Owned: more than 12 months.
If you are looking for a heavy duty antenna and top performer this is your antenna. I stacked two of these on my tower at 150/120 ft and the results are phenomenal. Compared to my previous LPA at 100ft in CQWW this year I added 300 QSO's just on 20 meters in arguably worse conditions. Ken at JK has great customer service.
