The SunSDR2 QRP is the HF transceiver with 5W output power and a wide range of capabilities. Thanks to the constantly improving ExpertSDR2 software and advantages of the direct sampling the SunSDR2 QRP can solve any given task for a reasonable price.

What a bargain! Time Owned: more than 12 months.
This fine little rig is the equal of my Anan Orion Mk II, a 4-watt transceiver, which is the core of all the high-end transceivers from Apache Lab. If only it had PureSignal.
The Sun's software is superior to the HPSDR that I use with the Anan, with a beautiful panadapter of high resolution.

It appears to have problems decoding narrow band FM, not much of a drawback on HF.

There are two recorders, one for audio only, the second a full I/Q recording that allows you to tune the band as if in real time.

The AGC is not quite as tweakable as the Anan, but far superior to my IC-7300, FTdx10, and Elad Duo (another QRP direct sampling XCVR).

The TX audio is extremely crisp once you turn off the compressor and TX AGC. Many unsolicited complements.

Many, many software powered features. A real gem.

Added 5 months later. Have found two flaws: First, there seems to be no way to controll recording gain other than changing your preset monitor gain. Two, and this is serious, engaging any RX EQ introduces audio distortion from adjacent signals similar to what noise blankets do. The firmware needs changing.

Great rig Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
A great device. In particular on the cw. For fans of ESSB, huge possibilities, even without external "blocks". Other emissions, including FT8, seamlessly. And everything that gives TCP / IP on the network, also global. At least 5W of output power on each band, except for the 6m band, where my copy gives 4.5W. A very well organized service that will help you remotely help set your device's parameters. The software is constantly developed and easily available for updating.

Great SDR QRP Experience Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
Performance and support rate 5 stars for the Sun SDR2 QRP rig from Expert Electronics. Solid construction and the ever developing ExpertSDR2 software make this a great QRP experience. From dual receive to complex transmit audio processing there is a somewhat steep learning curve. Initially there was a hardware problem, but great support from the local supplier NSI Radio (Yuri) and Roman at Expert Electronics via Team Viewer the problem was solved and I was on my way to enjoying this fine radio.
