Nice multiband but does not take the wind. Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
I installed this antenna at about 33’ on a 4-point, guywire supported, 2” mast. It was rotated with a Yaesu 450G. The antenna was fed with 60’ of LMR-400. The antenna was very quiet and performed well on the advertised bands. I was able to tune it with my Palstar AT2K on 40m but the performance was significantly diminished. Rotating the antenna did exhibit some directionality, but nothing like a beam as you would expect.
The antenna is very easy to assemble, but get some help in moving it after assembly because it is a bit awkward to carry. It is not that heavy and I was able to push the antenna up easily on my tilt-over mast with the help from a friend.
The antenna is advertised to withstand winds >85mph. This is where it failed miserably. I would suspect that the wind rating is for momentary gusts. In Wyoming, we have 35+mph sustained winds for days at a time. The antenna failed at its mounting points in less than 3 months.
This antenna would make a good field day antenna. It does perform well and is not at a bad price point. If you live in a windy QTH, you may want to consider something else.
