AWESOME Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I have been using this program for some time with my IC=775DSP and it rocks. I recently acquired an FTDX-5000MP and using FT-2000 settings, I am still in business.

Keep up the good work!

Does free mean the user is stupid ? Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I need free software because after injuries and death in my family, I can't afford to "pay" anyone to contest and then turn over the points for the glory of a club... sorry. I'm frustrated by the defects in the Grayline map, which does not load properly in Windows 7, and has been met with deaf ears the several times I've asked. I believe somewhere it says it's not supported by them, but I would guess it's an error calling it up. In fact, I had several free software purveyors tell me "oh gee I'm sorry you're having trouble." No, it's you having the trouble because eventually and mysteriously it gets fixed and I know it. This was the case with a RTTY and SSTV app too. It's funny with this app, since I was a Teaching Assistant in Comp Sci at a school in CT which is where the author resides. Strange that such an attitude would be copped. I must be stupid. Because the program warns that it can damage equipment and for the aforementioned reasons, I no longer contest. I'm not about to go around installing Linux when I need Windows in order to get free software. I believe my reason is valid. I understand it takes time to code. I can't pay for it after what was done to us in the last 12 years or risk damage if a Grayline map won't work.

I have run every version of N1MM Logger that has come out since it was first released.

I, personally, have never had it crash.

It has been stable throughout. And despite what they say, it does make a fine full time logging application; just export your log to an ADIF file and track your awards with another application you aren't as fond of using on the air.

I personally prefer using N1MMLogger full time because I like the simple, uncluttered screen that can be fully moved around... each item has its own window. In other words, there is no master view.

You can arrange it anywhere on your monitor and have as many or as few (excluding the main data entry window) up.

It interfaces with the DX Cluster well, giving you the option of using TELNET (with an improved interface to choose nodes from earlier versions) and also packet. It allows you to control your rig and makes working DX as easy as triple clicking a sopt to bring it to the log... and clicking LOG IT when you've worked it.

Some satellite tracking software sold for 50 bucks should be this good, and offer an email response from the author as fast as Tom nswers you. See my review of that satellite tracking software elsewhere...

Good program but not for me Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
I tried this software on my laptop during a couple of contests. I found a few glitches but was able to overcome them by the emails on the Yahoo group. I have since removed the program because of the glitches. I now use N3FJP's software because it needs very little if any work done to make it work like I want it to. I don't mind paying the money. In fact, I would pay money for any logging program that I didn't have to mess with. I do not mean this is not a great program. It is just not for me.

Works Well Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I've run a couple of contests with N1MM and it works well. No need to download a separate program for each contest like you have to do with N3FJP contest log. I'm not a fan of multiple windowing software but other than that it's fast and easy to get going, which is what I need for my impromptu contesting style.

Great . . . Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I started using WriteLog for contesting on CW, SSB and especially RTTY a few months back. A fine piece of software and a value for the price.

Last week I wanted to enter the Makrothen RTTY test. I spent around an hour late Friday evening, trying to get the Makrothen module for WriteLog working. A web search indicated I was not alone in my frustration.

As a last ditch effort, I looked for other software programs that supported the Makrothen RTTY contest. Many were of the "30 day free trial" variety. Some looked like old DOS programs ported to Windows. Yeechh.

Then I found N1MM. What a nice piece of software. I had it up and running with MMTTY in the Makrothen test within minutes. And it has some nice features I've never found with WriteLog, like a "right in your face" wipe clear button to erase the logging window. I had logged a dozen or so QSOs into MMTTY direct and found little difficulty while importing them into N1MM via ADIF, too. Pretty darn user friendly.

The program is free to boot. Kudos. I look forward to running it through its paces in other contests.

Excellent Contest logging software Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Reliable, responsive, flexible and excellent support!

After using DOS contest software for many moons I finally upgraded to Windows XP in the hamshack about a year ago. I tried several different windows contesting software and N1MM was the clear winner.

It supports an amazing number of contests.
The support team is very responsive to a request for a change or enhancement.
Updates and enhancements are made available on a very timely basis.
Networking is rock solid.
Supports excellent CW keying options.

If you have not tried N1MM in a contest, you should.

It still rocks! Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Its been several years since my last review of N1MM and this is still a superb program. My phone and contesting participation have significantly increased and N1MM has not failed to keep step with me.

I keep hearing from several members of a major contesting club that WriteLog or CT can do something where N1MM can't and everytime I point out how to do it in N1MM. You may not do it in the exact same way as the other programs but it supports every feature they do.

In a recent M/2 effort both computers kept their logs in sync and each operator knew what was going on.

This is professional grade software. Basic and power users can use this software with equal effectiveness.

From the casual to the serious contester - N1MM is the choice.

My hat is off to Tom and his team for creating this contest logging program at the unbeatable price of $0, yes ZERO. I'm not going to repeat the features that others have noted, but this package does everything you need for a contest and more.

I do a fair amount of contesting but am no means a powerhouse. I've used CT and Log/Win-EQF but was looking for more. (Note that Win-EQF is my general purpose logger.) I have always felt that general and contest logging are two very different creatures and have not seen one program that does both to my liking. The authors note that this is not a general logger (though it can be used for that). It is meant as a contest logger.

I tried N1MM two years ago and was hooked. The features have only gotten better and now give me more reasons to upgrade my shack as well as try new aspects of contesting.

If you want to try a full featured contesting package give it a shot. You have nothing to lose. Join the Yahoo group and you can search for answers there if you can't find it in the manual.

just the best one Time Owned: N.A.
I think I've tried them all, N1MM is just the best one. Not because it's free, just because it does everything the rivals do, and it does more than they do.
Another reason - it is almost an open-source project. No one can develop contest logger solely these days, contest loggers become too complex and only the open-source project can provide permanent development. Closed proprietary amateur software just not competitive anymore.

Great for the price, but........... Time Owned: more than 12 months.
OK, I'll keep it simple:

If you are a serious contester then WRITELOG is the best choice.

If you are a casual contester, or very cheap, then N1MM should suit your needs.

Way UnderPriced Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I have been dabbling in contesting of late and came to the realization that my every day Logger (LOGIC 8) just wasnt up to the task of doing contest logging. The Logger market is over populated with decent programs, most offering a free trial. So for the last couple of months I have been trying them ALL. Yes, if it has a free trial, I have tried it. I picked N1MM for my contesting needs. It is very comprehensive and fairly easy to figure out. The help and Manual are second to none. One of the BEST manuals I have seen for ham software.

I used the software this weekend for CIS RTTY contest. It worked great with MMTY/MVARI.

Why this software is free is beyond me. Other software that costs $$$$$$ isnt even close to the quality of N1MM logger. Thanks to ALL that make N1MM free.
