Cutting Edge Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Hats off to N1MM, everyone participating in its development, and the user community on Yahoo Groups. Impressive level of constant innovation and outstanding support. Features are often added that I've been waiting for years to be included in Writelog (full support for 2nd vfo, etc). Thanks Tom, for your commitment to making this software a success.

Great logger and FREE Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
After an absence of 20+ years to the HF bands, I had a lot of catching up to do. Contesting caught my interest again and I realized I quickly needed a computer logging program when attempting the NA QSO Party. By good luck, I found the N1MMlogger and glad I did.

First, it's not a general logging program and is designed specifically for contesting, but does a fantastic job for that purpose. I was able to quickly setup the program on my Windows 2000 PC and got in operation. Over the next few weeks, I began to use more and more of the powerful features of the program. I especially like that the underlying database is an Access table in case some other editing may be needed. Import and export features to ADIF and Cabrillo formats is easy to use.

Support and updates are important and Tom Wagner (N1MM) is the best. Tom must monitor the discussion group 24/7 because his responsiveness can't be beat. This past weekend, I wanted to use it for an unsupported state QSO Party and Tom had it added and a program update on the Web within an hour. The Yahoo discussion group brings in a team of other resources to support the program and help users.

I've tried some other logging programs, but I am really satisfied with this one for contesting. I use another program for general logging, but always use this one for contests. I strongly recommend it!

N1MMLOGGER is a fabulous program with excellent support. Time Owned: more than 12 months.
Since become "computerized" in 2001, I have tried several logging programs for general logging and contesting. From XMLOG to HAMLOGGER, they have all had their user friendly features; however, N1MMLOGGER has been the best. Since I am a longtime Macintosh user, getting used to PC commands and terminology was quite a difficult task. Thanks to my brother, a computer instructor in Maine, I was able to set up the PC and software in the shack to use for radio control of the FT1000MP. Eventually, as I gained experience, I added N1MMLOGGER to my software collection. Notice that I downloaded all of the FREE ham software I could find. I didn't want to spend any cash on something I might not be able to use, or operate properly. After using this program for two contests and getting support from their excellent Yahoo site, I would gladly pay for this! In the last WPX contest, I used the WAV macros for CQ and saved my voice. I recorded my macro on the first try and with the help of Audacity, also a free audio program, I had a decent CQ message. Thanks Tom for a fabulous program and having the patience to answer questions early on from this computer neophyte. I have been a ham for 44 years and finally I am in the 21st century with computer logging and contesting.

Phenomenal! Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
This is one incredible contesting program! I downloaded the program and installed it the day before the contest, ran through a few "practice" QSOs to get used to it, recorded some WAV files for CQ and contest exchanges using "Audacity", a free audio program, then tried the logging program for a while at the beginning of the contest. Had a lot of fun!! Wasn't really going to "get into" the contest, but it was SO much fun I leapt. Although not seriously aiming to go for any kind of effort, I ended up with 1203 QSOs, 533,244 points, and the log was converted to Cabrillo format, sent to ARRL within 20 minutes of the end of the contest, and their robot told me it was accepted. WOW! Converted the N1MM log to ADIF and uploaded it to DX4WIN 6.02 with no problems, printed out a few QSLs, and it was over. GREAT program, and super effort on the part of all involved with its development!! Congratulations!!

Ive used them all and N1mmlogger is the BEST Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
After reading all the reviews on N1MMlogger I cant think of a thing to add describing the features that have been covered so well in the reviews. Ive used most of the contest logging pgms that are out there, some I've bought and others were FREE, none came close to the ease and support of N1MMlogger. Updates come almost weekly, always after a contest. The forum is great where there is always someone around to answer your questions. The manual is several hundred pages and is updated regularly. I hadn't sent in a contest log since 1966 when I won the Novice roundup but decided to submit my cabrillo log after the ARRL cw contest 2003 for checking purposes. I was pleasantly surprised to have the robot come back via email stating that the log was excepted without making corrections. It couldnt get any easier as I barely get by with computers. If they started charging for this software I would be right in line - I highly recommend this program to new operators and seasoned ops alike. Check it out you will be pleasantly surprised like I was.

Glad I Switched From CT Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
This past weekend's ARRL DX CW contest was the "shake down cruise" for my recently downloaded N1MMlogger & FT-990.

I had been a dedicated CT used since the late 80's and when I got back into contesting after a 10 year absence, I naturally plunked down my $84.95 for the latest version of CT and took off on DOS-based contesting.

Then I bought my 990 and found N1MM's (FREE)Logger. A quantum leap in contest logging.

What a dream. Rig interfacing went without a hitch...no TSR's to worry about. Key commands were almost identical to CT and are displayed for you (no calling up a help screen or using handwritten labels on the keys). There's no need to hook up a separate rig for Packet spots as N1MMlogger accepts TelNet. This makes S&P'ing beyond easy! Just worked JA3YBK on the bottom of 15 & A35RK is higher up the band? Simply click on the spot and instant QSY!

I ran into only 1 minor problem, the default LPT1 port default address was different from my laptop's. This led to a 30 minute period of confusion which was quickly resolved when I changed the port address in the program.

CT is a good program, but is becoming a bit dated. Hopefully K1EA will take note of what N1MM has done and will release CT for Windows as a full (not beta) version soon.

Best Windows Contest software I've used Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
I had tried a good number of Windows-based contest loggers and always went back to DOS programs. I found that the extra overhead of the Windows interface would cause hesitation especially in CW sending and rig control. I was very pleasantly surprised by the N1MM logger. I have been using it for six months and find it has a large number of things going for it.
1. Low system overhead. I've run it with packet, rig control, every window open, and a RTTY decoder going in the background on a Pentium 233 and had no hesitation at all.
2. Number of contests handled. At first it didn't handle as many contests as the the more mature programs, but more and more are getting added.
3. Great support. Bugs and questions are answered very quickly and there is a large group of testers who excercise the program. New versions come out quickly in repsose to needs as opposed to one build every 6 months.
4. Dedication to keeping this as a contest logger only, with easy data transfer to a regular logging program.
5. It's FREE.

If you're looking for a great Windows contest logger that is bound to only get better, check this one out.

Awesome is Right Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Great Logging Program. I did everything wrong (downloaded software just before the ARRL 10M. contest, Did not read the manual, ect) and was still able to use it in the ARRL 10M. contest. The discussion group is quite helpful. Tom and his group did a great job. Export to cabrillo format was easy and worked the first time, I also exported it to my general logging program with no problems. No telling how great it will be when I get around to reading the manual.
