THANK YOU QUICK CODE Time Owned: more than 12 months.
AFTER TRYING THE CODE AND FAILING, I GOT QUICK CODE. USED IT FOR A MONTH, NOT ONLY DID I PASS BUT I ACTUALLY STARTED TO LIKE CW...EVEN MY KIDS NOW KNOW MORSE CODE AFTER HEARING ME STUDY USING THE CD.
GET IT AND IT WILL DO THE JOB. Not sure it I would have continued in HAM if it wasn't for this CD..Thank you Quick Code for letting me pursue a great hobby.

Not very good. Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I just became a little over three months ago. I had trouble finding a morse code program. I ended up paying for Code Quick because it was about all I could find at the time. I ended up finding Numorse about three weeks after when I was bored. If I had known about Numorse, I would have never bothered with Code Quick. I was stuck with Code Quick. After Numorse I was on my way. Like someone else said, the program is slow, buggy, and not very many options. You can get the sound a likes in numorse, drills, and just continous code. I tried pasting a bunch of text in CQ and it would crash unless you did it real slow like.

Makes it easy! Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
Combining the CD with the tape course did the trick for me.It took me 2 weeks to get to 5wpm and pass the test.I will be sticking with CQ and getting to a faster level.Try it you will not regret it.I had a problem with the CD and was helped out with trying to correct it immediatly, when it could not be resolved I was sent a replacement with no problemss

Why didn't I know this first Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I spent 7 months trying to learn code from other tapes and CD's and failed the test twice. I was really getting discourged, then the president of my club told me to try CodeQuick 2000.
We received the set of 6 CD's in the middle of January it is now March 3rd a month and a half later and I passed the code test yesterday. I had too learn the code all over again a different way. I just wish I would have gotten CodeQuick in the first place instead of wasteing those 7 months it's great.

I finally got the code! Time Owned: 6 to 12 months.
In conjuction with the tapes, the software helped me solidify what I learned. I passed my test on the first try and am a busy beaver working CW on 20M.

Software is good...in Theory Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
The whole idea of this software is great. As the author claims, it does stimulate the language part of the brain with the silly sound-alikes. I was surprised to find that I had come up with 5 of the sound-alikes from this software before I even tried it!. But some of the sound-alikes are just stupid...For instance, the sound-alike for Q (--.-) is "Pay Day toDay". That doesn't even make sense! Some of the other sound-alikes hit it right on, like "a Light is lit" for L (.-..).

However, the software runs very slow and is hard to navigate. As a person who knows how to program MFC, I can understand the timing difficulties in building a GUI. However, If you're going to sell a product, more effort should be put in to make it run at real-time speeds. I've got a dual Athlon 1800 and it's still slow even though my CPU meter is rock bottom. There is also no guided tour of excercises in a sequence to help you learn.

I like the Escargo game because you can't cheat and say "yeah, I would have got that if I were paying more attention". Escargo is a type-as-you-hear game where you can't afford to dwell on missed letters.

It's a good start, but I would spend a few weekends tweaking the GUI response time and creating some lesson plans.

Best Morse Code Tutor Time Owned: more than 12 months.
This has to be the absolute best (and easiest) morse code training tool ever ! Using "sound-alikes", you learn the rhythm of morse code rather than memorizing dits and dahs so it's much easier to increase your receiving speed.

It took me from no code to 20 wpm extra (no plateaux). It's fun; not a chore like the other methods I'd tried (Koch included).

Some have said that this is not a good method of learning the code, but you can be sure that none of the detractors have ever used it ! Ask anyone who *has*, and you will hear them rave about it.

Negatives ? The UI could be made a little simpler for the non computer-literate, especially in the area of selecting the lessons. Sample QSOs could have more variety in them but I'm really nit-picking here and what's there is certainly more than adequate.

Visit their web site and see page after page of glowing reviews, many from people who'd been trying for many years to learn CW and now using Code Quick, they finally did ! They even offer a 90 day money back guarantee ! It's not the cheapest, but in my (and many, many others) opinion, it's the best !

There's an audio tape and audio CD version too (for the non-computer user).
