Great radio! Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I decided to go for the one in the metal case -- has frequency meter (2 digits) and mult-turn pot for easier tuning. Definitely worth the extra cost. BTW, you can drive a small loud speaker with the very good audio from this radio (both models). Case is a powder coated aluminum casting. Definitely going to be good as a field radio.

Couple of hours max, to assemble. Covers low end of 40 meter CW - about 7.017 - 7.047 with VXO. True superhet design, nice narrow filter - about 300 Hz. Good audio output, LED shows signal strength, 12 dB switchable attenuation to prevent overload on strong signals. Plastic formed "L" case. Another version - more expensive - has digital readout and 10 turn pot, though the stock pot on this is easy to tune. Will probably get mostly field use for me, but could use at home QTH. Nice low receive current draw, around 45 mA.Solid 5 watts out (adjustable).

Super little radio! Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
What a delightful little radio! I got mine with the metal case and digital readout. It is solid, beautifully made and works well. It is a semi-kit, so not too much construction.

The receiver works well -- it is selective and has no drift. WA3RNC was great to deal with. Highly recommended!

Metal case version is great Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I just completed building the metal chassis version of this radio with the digital readout leds. Its easy to build and the performance is outstanding. Very quiet receiver and has adjustable power out of 0 to 5+ watts. The 300hz filter works fantastic. The aluminium case is very heavy duty and available in a variety of colors. It really is a beauty. Instruction were clear and easy to follow. I would recommend this unit for anyone looking for a quality QRP kit.
