Excellent portable for that era Time Owned: more than 12 months.
When this portable first came out in the 1980's I just had to have it. It turned out to be an excellent performing radio on either 2mtrs or 70cm. I had the Periphex 12V large batteries that would provide the energy to last a long time using the 5W output level I needed to reach the many 2mtr / 70cm repeaters in the cnj area i lived in. I had and used it for about 6 or 7 years and it always performed very well and was also very robustly built so after several drops always continued working well. An outstanding portable for its era.

excellent HT at the time Time Owned: more than 12 months.
I bought one from Grand Central Radio back in the 1980s, and really loved using the radio. It was easy to use, and the cross band operation worked well. Always got good audio reports on the 2m & 440 repeaters I used in NYC.

wow , what can I say Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I bought a excelent unit. Old radio but works better than the new ones.
The receiver is the best I ever see. Nice audio and if I compare with VX8R , TH D7 , FT470 the receiver of the 727 wins all times.
Is not a full duplex but you can use the cross band and work the LEO satellites. The selectivity and sensibility is the best of all of them.
Power in a bird 43 is 5 watts + on VHF and UHF with 13.8V.
Yes is heavy and with the FNB 4A 12v battery is giant but I love it. A real jewel from other times.
