not bad, but now gone Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
From the BG5ROJ Group, this little radio seems to have a lot going for it. As a CW xcriver it is sensitive, on frequency and puts out full rated power (5 W) @ 12.8 VDC. AUdio out is loud enough to drive a small speaker. Sidetone adj via a menu entry.

Has QSK, a decent AGC loop and the display shows RIT offset when active with S meter and SWR. Tuner can be automatic or set manually. Covers 40M/30M/10M full coverage. The filter can be 'opened' to permit listening to WWV for example. It has provisions for an internal, 6 cell battery for ease of use. Size-wise, it is just a bit thicker than a KX2 and a bit 'shoter/narrower' than the same KX2. Hence my comment about being a possible replacement for the KX-1.

The rig had lots of potential but appears to have died at the prototype stage - at least for NA. In looking at Chinese web sites, I see the BG5ROJ Groups seems to have folded their tent and left. They are no longer found on any non-Chinese sites and anyone previously associated with the digital modem has dropped out as well. This rig had a 'life-cycle' of just under 1 year.

This is the same Group that sold a digital modern for PSK-31, very much like the NEW-PSK and whose software they used.

A shame really - the radio could have been a 'replacement' for the now discontinued Electaft KX-1 for portable QRP operations. It also offered the ability to upgrade the operating software at home, a real plus.

It may be that the BG5ROJ Group is back at the drawing board (or programing table) and we might see this again. I hope so. It offered real value for the performance vs cost.
