BTech and Alinco; a good marriage Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Just bought this item and added it to my likewise newly acquired Alinco DR-235 MkIII. My meager 25w max. Alinco now delivers better than 50w throughout the entire 3 mhz. spectrum. The radio sans amp. will transmit at 5-6/10-11/25-27w as set by user. BTeTech's specs. on this little amp. suggest no more than 6w drive to get the full pop out of it. Indeed at 6w of which the radio is capable barefoot the amp. delivers the 50w advertised. That said and taking into consideration the insertion loss due to the amp. as well as Daiwa power meter being in line though off the radio's intermediate power out is now 8w rather than the 10-11w direct to the antenna. To my surprise and not having had to use the fire extinguisher on hand the amp. now with 8w drive from the Alinco puts out 55-60w across the band. My SWR is flat and yes, I may be shortening the life of the amp. marginally but I'm delighted with these results after having relegated my TYT-9000 to the trash. The maximum 25w output of the Alinco is what dissuaded me from opting for it originally resulting in bad experiences with both BridgeCom and TYT units. Just thought I'd pass this on to any other owners of this radio who might enjoy doubling its power. Of course now the trick is to try to find a discontinued DR-235 in some retailer's inventory somewhere.

Great Value and Performance Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
I have used their VHF/220/UHF standalone FM HT amplifiers in my Hammocan builds. They perform beyond spec with the VHF unit outputting over 50 Watts power on a 25-30W spec. Great assortment of accessories and strong audio on internal speaker. No reports of any kind of noise etc. Good quality build, fine performance and many accessories. BTech is located in South Dakota and provides immediate phone tech support.
