Stiff volume knob Time Owned: 3 to 6 months.
I want to like this radio, but the volume knob is giving me fits. It's very stiff and when you adjust it, it's like it springs back. Other than that, it's a great little handheld. I found it pretty easy to program using the software.

I have had no problems with mine Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Easy to use, very easy to program and for a direct conversion receiver it's way better than Yaesu's new HT's with exception of the FT-70D the other have horrible intermod, not this Alinco, it's tight, no crash squelch tail on receive. Transmit is good audio reports are good, I use it in the basement and hit a local repeater no issues whatsoever. If you want a good DMR radio to get started or if you already have DMR gear adding this one to the collection is a good idea, great backup radio long lasting hi cap battery and loud audio out. for $139'95 what can you expect from this little radio is solid performance.

Excellent radio Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Been in DMR radios since day one, has programmed dozen of radios from China and from Motorola, been a radio technician for 55 years, know how to program any DMR radio and how to install firmwares in any radio and this one has no issues at all.
Software works perfect with windows 7 home or professional but maybe will not work with windows 10, all my PC's and laptops works with Windows 7, never has used 10 for any programming.
I have the radio for five months now and it works everyday with no problem either on analog FM or DMR on local repeaters as well as trough my raspberry pi hotspot.
Brought it to my radio shop where I have professional service monitors and it passed all FCC specs, compared with other radios I own like the Anytone 878 and TYT MD380, works as well as the others, excellent audio quality on RX and TX as well.
Freq stabilty is very good and freq error from factory is just 30Hz.
Power output exced the 5W although I only use it on 1W for the hotspot.
Software is identical to the one for the Anytone 878 although codeplugs are not compatible each other.
So I do not have ANY issue at all with this nice little radio.

Good Enough Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Reception is average, usability is below average, but decent functionality. The provided manual is a joke and the downloadable expanded version is also a joke. The software is easy use. It's a "Me To" re-branded version of all the other DMRs available today. It's an okay choice though.

Disappointed Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
After working well for a couple of weeks, my little radio locked up while monitoring a local repeater and I wasn't able to get any response from it.
I tried removing the battery and then putting it back on to reboot it but the only thing that did was to turn the display off and it hasn't come back.
Currently it is "bricked" and I'm about to return it as it appears if there may be problem with the radio's OS.
It's a shame as this is a very nice performing hand held with the best audio of any I've had before.
Very disappointing!

Very good radio and Software ? Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
Right click and run as administrator should solve that problem. The only thing I find is it takes awhile to set up the code plug. It will hit repeaters 27 miles away with the original antenna. Once programed it is very easy to use. If the radio screen goes dark and you have hit a key or turn the volume knob to see if it is on. I have purchased 2 md5-gp.

Bad Programming Software Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I am not sure what to say about this radio (more specifically the programming software). I purchased one from HRO during the Dayton Hamvention. So far I have been unable to get the programming software:
https://www.remtronix.com/downloads/DJ-MD5_CPS_FW_1.10.zip

Running under Windows 10, I have tried several different laptops running the most recent patches and always get the error: "Runtime Error , 13 Type mismatch" error when trying to run the programming software. I have contacted technical support several times without much luck in resolving the issue.

I am curious if anyone else has had this problem when trying to run the radio programming software recently on a Windows 10 computer (or if I am the only one having the issue)..

Thanks,
Glenn

Works great except for alarm Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I bought this radio recently to get on DMR. I've set the codeplug using the software and am using it on the air with my hotspot. It is working fine, and has very good audio. However, there is an alarm feature in the radio. There is no help category to tell me what activates the alarm, and how to disable it permanently. I did not activate it when programming. Alinco told me to watch more Youtube videos. The alarm goes off audibly every few minutes, so I can't leave the radio on for any length of time.

Excellent Analog and DMR radio Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
I had this radio for a week now and am very pleased with it. The screen is attractive and easy to read. The volume is very loud and clear. I can reach an analog repeater 25 miles away from inside my car. My DMR communications were through an openSPOT2 and got excellent voice quality reports. Loaded 120,000 DMR contacts and 1200+ Brandmeister talk groups. Programming is very fast... much faster than other transceivers I own.

Great Radio Time Owned: 0 to 3 months.
This is a great radio that fits well in your hand and feels right. It is a very good radio, which I have had for a while now and I have very good things to say about it. I have several other DMR radios like the TYT MD380, TYT MD-UV390 and Connect Systems CS750. But this my favorite radio of all of them. The performance is as expected, working very well from a manufacturer with a long history in radios. The radio is well made, great screen, and very solid feel to it. Performance is top notch and I have not experienced any issues that I could not explain, for example being to far away from the repeater. The only thing that I wish it has was one more programmable button, but due to the size of the radio, it is just not an option. So unless you go to a bigger radio like an Anytone you cannot fit more buttons. So overall I give the radio 5 stars as it is pretty rare that I can find very little to complain about in this radio. That is a pretty good thing in my mind. I highly recommend this radio.
